It was a wild weekend in the Big 12.
Why not OSU? That is the question I ask when others poke fun at the Tulsa loss. Apparently someone thought BYU was #2 in the country going into their game against UCF. Apparently someone thought Oregon was #6 entering the game against the Cowboys. The Cowboys kicked the crap out of Oregon and Smoked UCF 42-28. The Cowboy smoked Colorado, a team that narrowly lost to BYU. The Cowboys have been in both games that they lost. The Cowboys have as good a chance as any team in the Big 12 to take home the Big 12 title. They need to keep the offense rolling and hope for a few defensive stops. Go Pokes!
Barring any chaos (which is a big if), here are the remaining games that I think will determine who goes to Arlington
Oct 31: Arizona @ Texas Tech
Nov 7: BYU @ Utah
Nov 14: Texas Tech @ OSU, Utah @ Arizona
There in lies the problem: Hoping to gets a few defensive stops is not a sound strategy if you’re wanting to get to Arlington and win the Big 12. Also, OSU needs to play a complete game, not a slow 1st half and then adjust. That came back to bite us against Houston and it will do again.
Bad look for the conference last night but man I think it ended up being pretty beneficial for us.
Yeah. Big 12 took a big hit last night. Went from possibly getting in 2-3 teams in the playoff to being a one bid league again.
If Utah beats BYU, and we win out, I think we’d be the #2 team in the B12 title game. You’d have an undefeated Utah, a 1 loss OSU, and a whole bunch of 2+ loss teams.
