Just what I’d been told by people within the program.
Yeah. Last year they got to go to a grizzlies game as well. (Terrible game they played the Cavs) for the Alamo bowl they went to the spurs game on Christmas. They get to do a lot of cool things during the trip.
Judging from the tickets I got assigned today and how cheap they are (compared to past bowl games) no one must be going to the Texas bowl!
That was my second college game I attended. Went with my dad, uncle, and grandpa - all rooting for OU. The environment was nuts. Perfect ending.
Is there go to be any sort of PFB happy hour or meet up in Houston leading up to the Bowl Game?
Speaking of watch parties, okc watch party? Thoughts on location?
The Mule is owned by pokes .
First trip down to Houston today. Anybody got any suggestions on things to do or places to eat?
Never been to Houston? For shame…
The Montrose area is really cool. There are several bars around there.
My personal favorite Mexican place (in the Montrose area): https://www.lamexicanarestaurant.com/
Downtown has a lot of cool bars kinda scattered out, but one in particular you should try is this place:
A good sports bar close to there is Christian’s Tailgate, which has great burgers.
If you like retro dance clubs, you have to go to this place: https://www.facebook.com/BarbarellaHTX/
The Conservatory is really really cool. It’s like a high end food court with a stall for craft bear (had about 30 craft beers on tap if i remember correctly)
My truck was broken into in Montrose, doesn’t even matter if you lock up . Hide your valuables wherever you go. Not trying to be a wet blanket just be careful boys and girls.
One other thing to keep in mind, there is nothing around NRG Stadium, like bars and restaurants. There are some strip malls and such down the street from it, but nothing like nightlife areas. The light rail/streetcar does stop right by the stadium, though, and it goes all the way into the middle of downtown, it’s very convenient.
One other place I’ll throw on the list is Tacos A Go Go. It’s good for breakfast tacos.
So is Spencer 100% ready to rock tomorrow? It’s been mentioned he’ll play, I just didn’t know how healthy he was.
I’ve heard he’s good to go, but with no real reason to risk injury Dru Brown will get his share of time.
Heard today he’s yet to throw real passes in practice. They think he may play some but it will only be running packages.
That makes sense. Also I have heard that the locker room loves Dru Brown and have kind of lobbied for him to get the time as well.
If Spencer is 100% he needs to start and play the majority of the game. If Gundy means what he says then getting Spencer another game is important for his development going into next season. I’m glad Dru is a good guy, but being a good guy doesn’t earn you the right to start in a bowl game against an SEC team.
Lived in Houston for 4 years and honestly I absolutely hated it. Food is great and it’s nice being within driving distance of Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, New Orleans, and etc., but that’s about it.
Just stick to White Oak/The Heights, Washington Street, or Downtown/Uptown and you won’t miss much else.
Especially against an SEC team. Great experience.
The only really close decent place to NRG is Pappasitos on 610. I’d go early as it will be packed. From there it is about a 5 min drive to Blue lot.
