Colorado is Reportedly Leaving Pac-12, Set to Join Big 12 in 2024

Here. We. Go.

Ok, so we probably get Colorado to give us 13 teams in 2024. Does CU really offer that much to the B12 nowadays? We would get the Denver market and have a bridge to BYU geographically. Would that be enough to destabilize the P12? I don’t know.

Probably just depends how bad the tv numbers are sounding. I’m assuming Colorado must’ve finally heard some more concrete numbers and that’s why they’re moving after months of stagnation. If the numbers are really low then yes, I’d say several others will look to defect. If it’s like 27-28 but all streaming then that may be enough to keep the originals together but for Colorado to go back to their original home.

There’s been a lot of discussion about who becomes OSU’s rival after OU leaves. If this news holds true CU becomes my number 1 option. They’re old big 8 foes and CU does have some National prevalence and accolades even if it has been a long time ago now. In the short term with Deion as their coach he’s an instant lightning rod that would make them easy to hate. Also CU has no natural rivals left with OU, Texas, and Nebraska all gone. OSU and Kstate make the most sense for them.

I’m not a fan of Colorado coming back, but I do think this speeds up the others to leave. I think we’ll hear from Utah next.

I’m all for this. I love Yormark and the Big 12 going all gansta.

We gain nothing from the Buffs other than the ego driven clown head football coach. I would hope we can add Utah. ASU and UA adds nothing but mediocrity.

Agreed, but I think Yormark is looking at Arizona for time zone and basketball

Utah pledged their allegiance to P12 at P12 media day. P12 had confidence in them to become P5 and Utah has won last 2 football titles. They like it the way it is. I think Arizona may be next domino

He definitely wants us to rule basketball

I agree, I think Arizona is the most likely of the other 3 four corner schools to bail. Although I was listening to 365 and Jason Sheer who’s a writer for Arizona said he heard a school who hasn’t been talked about in the pac 12 could be interested in moving to the Big 12.

Ok, so Utah, both Arizona schools and CU have been widely spoken about.
I would not think it to be Stanford or Cal, that only leaves the Oregon schools and Washington schools…interesting.

Its Oregon. Oregon has been talked about. People believe.

I say no to Colorado, as mentioned above by @taishan , their clown , ego maniac Coach I have trouble taking him. He’s not what college is about, sure you want to win but he goes in and tells a kid to hit the road if he’s not a starter. He will recruit well I’m sure until the new wears off. Getting to 15-16 teams it’s hard for a rivalry. I just don’t like it but that’s where it’s going

I get CU wants(needs) to make moves but does the big 12 need them ?

You take Colorado in the attempt to get the pac to fold. Gotta start somewhere why not take an original member back to get the ball rolling?

The Big 12 needs to play offense. Grabbing Colorado is playing offense. The Buffs are just the next domino thats fallen…there will be more to come. Id bet we hear something by the weekend. You call Oregon. Make them turn you down. Then go to Utah. Washington. This is the start of a bigtime move by the Big 12.

CU is underwhelming right now, but they’re building for the future. New coach, new investments in facilities, etc. They’re about twenty years removed from playing for B12 titles, but the history is there.

@NewPoke CU as a program…really adds nothing. When a Conf restructures, its always done in pairs so adding them is a clear sign of more to come. The Big 12 needed a domino to fall…and this was that domino. Kudos to Colorado for seeing the writing on the wall.

I agree, was just saying that they have the potential to be additive.
