After a season in Stillwater, Gilman is headed back to State College.
Losing Gilman as a coach is not good. But losing a guy with his type of personality is a good thing. DT will find an outstanding former wrestler as a replacement. I posted several days ago that I sensed in the near future we would add a wrestling legend to the coaching staff. So this is a really good happening. Wait and see.

I never liked Gilman. He’s a bit paranoid so I would expect him to have issues with people. He’s leaving a $500,000 salary. Or was that the combined salary for Kennedy and Gilman?

Based on the class Gilman showed in his exit, I can’t imagine it being hard to find a better bench coach.
This reminds me of that OC we had for a year from Princeton and then he went to Rutgers and now he’s nowhere I think .

Spratley reaching the finals shows that Gilman can coach.
But Gilman stating that issues with the staff started as soon as they got to Stillwater sounds pretty strange. Too bad he didn’t elaborate. But it’s an obvious opportunity to entice a super star to join the staff. Especially since Mr. Paycom pays the coaches handsomely.
I still recall Gilman talking about Flowrestling wanting him to stand in a certain spot in our wrestling room when Iowa was working out at the same time as the Cowboys. He said he didn’t like having his back to the Cowboys since they might try to take out his knee. I hope he gets his head straight while back at PSU. I doubt that DT will ever fill in the blanks for us as to why Gilman departed. Troy could have benefitted from another year with Gilman. But they should have a replacement pretty soon. Who besides Gilman wouldn’t love to coach alongside David Taylor?
Anytime you quit on a job or person, it’s low quality to just face time them and quit and air your differences. He’s only going to their training center. I’ll bet DT has one that’s equal or better
