Cowboy Wrestling: Five Thoughts on Oklahoma State's 22-12 Win against No. 4 NC State

It was the Pokes’ first top-5 win since 2019.

Cowboys looked strong and on the offensive more than the past few seasons. This is a solid team, at least for duals. Some real scrappers. Surber still healing concerns me.
NC State doesn’t look like a top 5 team.
I hope we get to see Sam Smith wrestle. Looks like we might be good at 125 for awhile.
Williams should be much improved next season after more coaching. I see potential there, but he’s too raw right now. Doucet will not be an All- American. Jersey Robb will eventually be better. Biggest surprise this season is Pokes able to get off bottom. And they seem physically stronger.
Last season low NCAA finish due to so many L getting injured in the tournament, rather than it being a bad team.
Going forward, this team needs more recruiting in Pennsylvania.
For recruiting purposes, this team has to finish in top 5. Not sure if young recruits these days care about our glorious history.

Spratley and Fix definitely set the tone. Having a really good 125 is so important and something we haven’t had for a while. Jamison should have won except for the last few seconds. I think Surber was going to wrestle, but since we were up by 12 with just two matches remaining, it was a good plan to send Jersey Robb out there, knowing that anything less than giving up a fall, assured us of the win. Somewhere along the line I want to see Christian Carol wrestle some at heavyweight. I have a hard time believing that he can’t beat Doucet sometimes in practice. And I was expecting Thompson to do more against his guy than letting it go to overtime.

Great win. It looked great on paper. Still what if aj was a normal person. This team would be good

I second this. I’m excited about this kid’s potential once he gets some more coaching and experience under his belt
