What motivates Oklahoma State players ahead of the 2025 season?
I like the idea of this season being a revenge tour. Just wish we had a different guy leading the charge.

I remember years ago, being late to a Posse roundup meeting at a steakhouse and the only seats left were next to Head Coach Jimmy Johnson and Tom Dirato, so our reward for being late (Wife’s fault) was to sit there at their table. The one thing I remember Jimmy saying was: “Football is a Business”. The world and oSu has now caught up to Jimmy’s statement decades later. It’s a “Business” and Coach Gundy has realized it, embraced it and needs to run like Barry Sanders with it.

Touchdowns for Jesus. I wonder if Jesus is a Cowboy?.. What if he isn’t?.. Maybe he’s more of an individual effort kind of guy?.. But then what if a WR and a CB line up, and both want to make Jesus happy?.. Will he want a TD or an INT?
I’m always struck by these rips in the fabric of logic every time a sports contestant factors religion into a game.
Remember that as believers we are just his servants. He will get what he wants regardless of where we stand in regards to the outcome. So not really confusing as Jesus, or whatever deity one believes in, is picking winners and losers. Of course we were also given tools to effect outcomes so using them can influence what happens. That is why working hard or being smarter can often times be the difference in success vs failure. Again not complicated.

So, if he gets what he wants regardless of where we stand in the outcome, then how can using our tools influence what happens? It can only be one or the other, not both. Sorry, I don’t mean to argue, - I am deeply religious myself - I’m not challenging the assumption of a caring God. But this type of logic hurts my brain.

Remember the old joke that we win the National Championship if we can get the whole stadium to consistently wave in the same direction at the same time after touchdowns?
I’m a lifer fan, and I believe every year is “the year”. I drink the kool-aid. I buy the coach talk. This year I’m putting on the orange colored blinders once again and I hope to God we don’t lay another rotten egg season like last year.
Can you love football and hate football at the same time?

I’m also a lifer with a different scarred approach…wake me up when we win such a championship. It’s easier on my health 
I just go for the pre-game, game itself, and homecoming week. A championship for me would simply be the icing on the cake @OSUgrad referenced in the NBA thread.

Yes no worries, I’m not a good debater and would never pick to debate religion. I can only answer to what I believe. We were given gifts to succeed in life but to do so we must use those gifts without a guarantee that we get the results we desire. That is how life works. While I am a believer religion in all it’s forms is full of contradictions, blatant ones. Rather than try to understand I try to simplify things, look at how life operates and use that as a guide with the understanding that there are forces out of our control operating with us and against us.

The best part of any sports fandom IMO is the wild swings between love and hate that happens during games/seasons.
Hopefully you end the game on the right side of that rollercoaster, but the best games always have a little bit of both to up the stakes.

That’s my way of seeing it, if you go to digging deep into some jerks ways of seeing it then we aren’t seeing what’s right in front of us. This all didn’t “just” happen the way everything on earth works. It’s all in the order He put it
