Yep, Morris has implemented a fully efficient program that addresses ALL areas. Emphasis on all areas especially recruiting and portal evaluation. He is building a “team” and getting to know players. Installing a winning attitude where some players don’t put effort in games like the last few years (embarrassing). I like the direction and think I will be happy with the results.

I don’t think I could be this gung ho if I tried. Good for you, though. I prefer it to trying to find fault in literally everything. I can convince myself of a lot of results this season. Four wins wouldn’t totally surprise me. Eight wins wouldn’t totally surprise me. I still think somewhere between five and seven is about right, and I’d be happy with it as a first outing.

You’re right. The players don’t have to worry about having a coach trying to stroke his own ego, and fight with fans while being the first coach in Big 12 history to assemble a team with back-to-back winless conference seasons.
We needed someone who’s a player’s coach while at the same time being a great tactician when it comes to know what he has, and what his players can actually do.

IMO, all coaches have an expiration date. Gundy should have moved on a couple of years ago when he could have gone out after a Big 12 Championship game appearance. Unfortunately, he seemed to think the university should have let him stay forever regardless of the product on the field. I hope Gundy can find some peace in the next stage of his life. He elevated the program to heights never seen before and I will always be grateful for that.

Aw man, don’t compare this to Colorado. In the three seasons since they handed things to Deon, they’ve won 4, 9, and 3 games. Are we happy averaging < 6 wins a year?
I don’t think CU and Deion are a good comparison. Deion thrived by out talenting his opponents. While Morris’s success has been scheme (aka coaching) driven. That makes a big difference in sustainability and potential consistency of results.

The big difference in Colorado first year Shedur and Meste is Meste has a full college season behind him, no mater what division. The key to me is the OL, if they can block and just protect average we win 7 at least, maybe 8-9…good receivers , one is a blazer, good rb who also is good catching the ball. Defense needs to be solid

Most on here seem to be. I’m not, I think with OU and Texas gone we should be cementing this opportunity to be a top 3 team consistently in the conference if our NIL investment stays competitive. I don’t expect us to win the conference every year. However, we should be at least every 3-4 years imo. Given that HCEM doesn’t turn into the very thing we just got rid of.
Deion Sanders is a celebrity. Eric Morris is a coach. That is why I expect Morris to have sustained success at OSU instead of one good season like Deion had at CU. BTW, this will be Deion’s last season because he will go 4-8 and will get a nice buyout to hit the road.

If Colorado is going to be that bad this year, then I’d expect Deion to be fired mid-season.
I think Deion has elevated Colorado IMO. He’s disappointing compared to the hype the national media gives him and he’s disappointing compared to how talks about himself, BUT I do think Colorado is a decent bit better than it was (low bar), before he arrived.
One thing that probably gets lost in the article is that I believe OSU’s history of success for most of the Gundy era puts the program miles ahead of Colorado. So if a big influx of recruits with a few NFL no-doubters can give Colorado a bit of a boost how big could OSU jump up with that same formula.
Shedeur Sanders arrived to Colorado with two full seasons of college ball under his belt, but Colorado was his first season at a Power Conference level. That’s actually why I thought the two were good comps for the article (obviously different styles of QB).

I agree with this. Was more focused on how an influx of talent and guys like Drew can shift things quickly.
I thought the talent Deion brought in was a lot more comparable to OSU’s additions than Sanders is to Morris. It’s just easier to talk about wins as a coach stat than a player stat if that makes sense.

You know that’s an interesting what if he retired after the 2023 season or the 2021 season (12 wins, Big 12 title appearance, beating Notre Dame in a NY6 Bowl, “We got a logo to”). Does the administration go for a new HC or wanting continuity promote Kasey Dunn to HC as he was the associate HC at the time?

I’m not promoting an OC that no other school bothered coming after, or showed any real interest in. One or two good seasons out of five or six isn’t the kind of continuity I’d be looking for.
I’d hope not promoting Dunn. The luster had worn off on Dunn as the OC by then.
