How can an Okie, if you’re a Native to Okieville, handle the winters in Minny? 
I grew up in Brooklyn, NY and left just before my 18th birthday to start school at OSU in 1976. I then went to med school in Tulsa. I lived 2 years in KC, MO, 2 years in Fort Smith AR, and have lived in MN for over 30 years. I am tired of the cold now that I am older and getting ready to retire. My wife is from Tulsa. The Twin Cities has been a great place to live. There is so much to do here from great hunting and fishing to out door sports and great dining. It is a great sports town and there is great theater here and many great artists put on concerts here. People are very active biking, running playing out doors and the like. You can get just about anywhere downtown in the winter as so many buildings are connect by skyways. Education is also top notch as well as healthcare which is in the top 5 in the country. However I am retiring and we may move back to Tulsa.

That’s wild that a NYC kid came to Stilly to get his bachelor’s. If you don’t mind the question, why? 
My distant cousin played for the Twins a number of years. I’ve only flown into and out of MSP. Why Tulsa over Stilly? I grew up in Tulsa, moved to Tokyo where I stayed a bit over 20 years and now back in T-Town. I’d rather live in a smaller city, i.e. Stillwater, over Tulsa.
I came to SW to go into veterinary medicine but eventually switched to human medicine. Also, my brother was at the OU medical school, so at least I had some family 90 miles away. When I was in school from 1976 to 1981, Stillwater had nothing except for the strip for food and entertainment. I have not been back since but I see that there is a lot more going on. I loved Tulsa. I lived 2 blocks off the river parks. I was a basketball junky and there were free rec centers all over to play. I also cycled at the River Parks which was great for it. I also like the lake Keystone outside of Tulsa. Tulsa traffic sucks and has gotten worse. T town is also a test city for fast food restaurants which sucks. But housing is cheap. Medical care is awful though. Oklahoma is one of the worst states in the country for medical care. That is the only thing that may keep me from moving back there as my wife and I are 68.

Too much crime in Tulsa, but the suburbs are much safer. It’s not anywhere close to the city I grew up in. It’s okay, but I didn’t move back due to MY decision. Anyway, best wishes whatever you decide to do.
The Twin Cites had a low crime rate when we moved here in 93. Now crime is really bad. It is just about anywhere now.

True. Even Broken Arrow, which was announced a number of times as one of the safest “cities” in the US, has had an increase of violent crimes. Owasso and Collinsville are still great places to live as far as that’s concerned.
