STILLWATER —For the first time since 2018, the Cowgirls will begin the postseason on the road. Oklahoma State will compete in the Fayetteville Regional against a field that includes host No. 4 seed Arkansas (40-12), Indiana (33-18) and Saint Louis (34-22). Oklahoma State will open the regional against Indiana Friday at 3 p.m. on ESPN2. The Cowgirls hosted a regional during the last five postseasons and capitalized on the opportunity to earn a spot in the Women’s College World Series all five times. During the last four years, OSU also had the benefit of hosting a super regional. Oklahoma State began the season ranked fourth in the nation, and the team could still make good on that potential with a sixth consecutive WCWS bid if the Cowgirls can go on a run in postseason play. Oklahoma State seemed to right the ship a bit late, winning six of its final eight games, including a 2-1 loss to Arizona State in the opening round of the Big 12 Tournament. Still, with an overall record of 33-18, these Cowgirls have already lost more games than any group since the 2018 team finished 39-22 after failing to make it out of the regional…
At least they’re not in Norman. Sadly, they probably won’t advance.
are we the 2 or 3 seed in this regional?
Not sure but I’m guessing 2 seed
Surely we’re the 2 seed playing Indiana in the first round.
After sweeping Utah I was hoping they had caught fire, maybe they still can but they need the bats to wake up. I’ll be watching. Go Pokes.
They can win this Regional and I believe they will. But Burleson, you are right - our bats need to awaken - they have been cold for most of the year in strategic and meaningful situations.
You gotta believe, and Ruby is right, Arkansas can’t be happy to see us.
Am I wrong in thinking that if you plan on winning the tournament you don’t start Ruby for the first game as we will need her for Arkansas?
I would start RyLee and take her out only if she isn’t cooking and then close with Ruby. But what do I know, I’m not a former groundskeeper. Indiana has the same overall record but their rpi is 41 twice as low as our ranking. So we should handle them hopefully.
