I understand Gundy not hiring for future potential, but as a simple criteria, how about: is CURRENTLY coaching and/or recruiting successfully in 2024. How fkn hard is that?
Our HC, OC, and DC are a combined 160+ years of age and are all trending down in performance.
For REAL. Hiring guys that got fired at their last few stops is NOT what Weiberg, Shrum, and the BOR had in mind.
Which is why they should have fired Mike. The fact that they didn’t…says Gundy still has all the power even with a reduced buyout.
Well I’m going to selfishly say that there is nothing wrong with old people. Not all old folks are stuck in their ways and stupid. One might put a little effort into coming up with something of actual concern for criticism. You don’t see me proclaiming young people lazy although sometimes I’m tempted.

I’ll bet one of more of them had some kind of discussion about the hires and at least conceded the decision and possibly even approved of the choices.

I have no proof and neither do you. They are just opinions ATM. If someday we get actual facts from people who were there and involved them maybe we can pronounce a winner. Then again I don’t care about that. In the end if I was Weiberg following everything that supposedly went on with the BOR, Gundy, et al. I’d be all over Gundy tracking who he was selecting for coaches and either saying ok or pushing him in a different direction. From what I understand of Weiberg, again I have no actual knowledge of this, from people who claim to know him he is not milk toast and in fact he is a bull dog when it comes to his job. Now his public persona is quite different, very low key and boring if you will, which masks how he actually approaches his job. From all that I would conclude that there is a good chance that Weiberg is all over Gundy regarding hires and no one is getting hired that he doesn’t approve of. Again my opinion. Agree with it or don’t. As a side note we may understand the AD/HC relationship better once Gundys contract details are made public. If Weiberg has no authority over hires per the contract then I will be wrong. Then again if that is true we have a whole lot more to talk about in that in what world would you give a coach a contract where the athletic director has no guidance over the them specifically hiring decisions.
