Thanks for stopping by – here’s your daily dose of Oklahoma State sports news. Scores Softball: Cowgirls 9, Florida State 6 OSU Bullets • The Cowgirls took out a top-ten squad in their season debut south of the border (PFB) • Marcus Smart was traded to the worst team in the NBA yesterday :slightly_frowning_face: (X) • Cowboy Wrestling added another top-five prospect to its class yesterday (PFB) • Kind of interesting to see Jim Knowles talk about how defenses are impacted by fast offenses: “I’ve been around situations where all the offense has done is try to score as fast as they could and didn’t worry about going three-and-out in 30 seconds in places that could put a defense at a disadvantage,” said Knowles, who in addition to Ohio State has previously coordinated defenses at Oklahoma State and Duke. I think PFB should give you a job as the staff writer for OSU golf.

Really young team isn it ? Be a lot of ups and downs with them ?

Would do it for free!

Speaking of…

Final round in Gainesville is underway. Pokes started day two back of host Florida, but fired a tourney-best -10 yesterday. Biggest obstacle to three straight wins today may be the line of thunderstorms that will inevitably interrupt the final round.

Cowgirl golf team may have a similar problem in Sarasota.

Young, yes. But some good experience already for Stout, Lane and the two Cal transfers: Fang and Lee. Seems like the Pokes have settled on their five-man rotation. The freshman kid from Sweden – Fahlberg-Johnson – has been impressive and steady.

Fang is on the Hogan watch list.

Looks like the Cowboy golf team came up one stroke short of host and 13th-ranked Florida.

UF finished the Gator Invitational (on their home course) at -17; OSU was at -16.

Looking back, OSU will lament the 198-yard par-3 15th hole. Gaven Lane suffered a quadruple bogey on the hole and was soon thereafter followed by Eric Lee’s double bogey. Those six shots were more than the difference.

The Cowboys surged to -21 as both teams, playing together, started the final nine holes. But the 15th came along and upended the Cowboy momentum. Preston Stout paced OSU with a six-under total, including a 4-under 66 on Sunday, but even he fizzled in the end – his only bogey coming at the 18th.

The tournament nearly completed before a line of storms rolled through causing a two-hour delay with about 3-4 holes left to play.

OSU now has two wins and a runner-up finish in their last three outings. The Pokes will be back in action in two weeks in Cabo San Lucas.
