“who else should be in the hall from OSU?”
The only two that come to mind is Leslie O’Neal and Russell Okung

“For starters, OSU was 1-11 last season… (PFB)”
Many people have used this argument to justify NT transfers but it seems like a specious argument (not opposed to HCEM portal decisions). The 1-11 record was a result of the poor coaching. The solid core of players was here and any hope for a successful year was torpedoed by poor coaching on the defensive side, an injury to qb 1, a terrible diagnosis of necessary talent on qb 2, lack of viable (experienced) qb depth for the system they purportedly wanted to run, poor offensive schemes, and misses at wr in the portal. Regardless of this mess, by the end of the year oSu was closer to pulling out some wins in the B12 with a patchwork of pieces and coaching. The point is that with competent coaching from Spring to in-season this team was good enough to win several more games and NOT be humiliated in Eugene - and it would have been difficult, outside of the triplets, for NT players to break into the oSu lineup.
I know this is a counter factual but what if Gundy earned his pay and had chosen two quality coordinators that had put these players in a position to win, had gone after that BYU (?) quarterback, and had conducted due diligence on portal players especially at WR. What changes? The core of this team was very solid! Heck, what if Gundy went and thoughtfully hired a Merti type to run his portal instead of watching teams around the nation hiring GMs and getting the best fill in players?
Thoughts?

Leslie O’Neal, when he retired was #8 in career sacks. His statistics blow away Dwight Freeny, who was elected to the HoF recently. A big part of getting elected is how many times one was named All Pro, but it doesn’t consider who else was playing during your career….its hard to be named first team when your competition is Reggi White, Bruce Smith, Chris Doleman, Kevin Greene etc.
If Gundy had did all of things, then they probably would’ve won around 5-8 games and he would still be the HC.
He didn’t and was let go.
Never know for sure who would have started outside the triplets. But I would lay odds the 2025 UNT team would have beat the 2025 OSU team by 20 or more, early or late. There were reasons UNT was in the top 25 and OSU was the worst team in the P4. Tulsa could not win a conference game and handed the cowboys a loss at home.
Only time will tell but remember Indiana brought 13 players from JMU. Not saying anything like that will happen in our case.
I agree the last few games players looked better than early games by a bunch. I am sure some were offered and might still come back. With exodus of so many HC Morris had to get some bodies.
Ok, wait is the game at 9 or 9:30? CBSSN has it starting at 9:30. What the hell?
Nevermind, tip is at 9:10, guide just says 9:30. Hopefully this New Mexico game doesn’t go to OT.
What is going on with Lefty? It seems like Lutz doesn’t even know whenever he’s asked.
Leslie was my choice too , Okung could be soon. He was a dominant guard. Leslie was defensive MVP one year I know and all- pro several years
Leslie was defensive MVP. One year and all- pro several times I didn’t look it up but just memory which isn’t good.. lol
We are at home playing a 9-8 team struggling to win and coming off a two loss skid. I’m not real impressed with this team. Going to struggle to get in the tournament.
Excited about the new blood next year tho. It’s a new era finally in football. So glad I don’t have to listen or watch another Gundy presser.
I’m wondering if there’s anybody else that can take minutes away from Miller? He’s been a bust on offense since conference play started and he can’t stay in front of anybody.
We have to change how we’re guarding the 3. Plain and simple. Everyone shoots their best 3-point % of the season against us.
So frustrating.
Thank god.
I dogged Miller all night but big ups to him for hitting those super clutch FTs.
I don’t give a shite if it should’ve been easier, it’s another conference win. We’ll take it.
Just got to find some way to improve on defense moving forward. We will see if lutz can get it done.
Only thought that 1-11 point wasn’t the strongest point - not taking snipes at MS and no problem with how HCEM filled out the roster. Problaly better he brought more from NT the way the portal lit up with exits - that will facilitate a new culture development. And not doubting NT would have won last year - HCEM was and is hungrier to win and was actually coaching up his team as it showed throughout the season - the main point was that the 1-11 was misleading and didn’t truly speak to the talent available. It speaks more to HCMG not putting his team in a position to win, not finding suitable depth, for whatever scheme he was running.
Someone mentioned on a podcast that Dickey (and throw in Wickline) didn’t suddenly become a bad coach but what HCMG wanted as a, Cowboy identify offense, was problematic. And he refused to change - hubris. Who’s not amazed that Cowboy football held together as long as it did under Gundy? Admittedly now, it was past due for a change. ![]()
