Can someone explain how the 27 Yankees ball is only worth a third of the Ruth ball?

I was trying to figure that out as well. Who is Smalls? The only thing I see is the grade of the first ball, near white. However, if the other ball was actually used in the game, which I assume it was, should be worth more. I don’t get it.

Smalls (and the post) is a reference to the movie The Sandlot. If you haven’t seen it, I’d highly recommend watching it.
