OSU’s defense is getting off the field on third downs.
“Texas enters Saturday averaging 482 yards a game, second-most in the conference. UT is also tops in the league in points per game, averaging 45.”
Texas is also giving up 40 points per game in conference play.
Their only running threat is Elhinger because their line can’t block long enough for their running backs.
If you watch some of the Texas games Elhinger is consistently making throws while on the run.
The only time they get the ball down the field is if they play against a terrible secondary or Elhinger breaks free on a run to get the first down.
They rank 57th in turnover margin ( 8 forced and 8 lost).
They rank 43rd on 3rd down defense. (.383)
Total defense rank is 43rd. (Iowa State is 42nd)
Scoring defense rank is 63rd.
Rush defense rank is 40th.
Pass defense rank is 69th.
So yeah…I feel pretty good about this game as long as Gundy plans around the Texas weakness and not to their strengths.
