STILLWATER — Ask anyone associated with OSU football about the defensive ends, and you’ll hear the same story. The Cowboys have depth. And not just the kind where there’s a bunch of players close together, but none of them are overly impressive. When asked to name his surprise of the spring, coach Eric Morris focused on the position. “The edges right now have been really pleasantly surprising to me,” Morris said. “It’s been tough for us to block them on the edge at tackle at times. It’s a sign of good things. “The pass rush aspect of it, Coach Richmond has done a phenomenal job with that whole group. We have some guys who were here in the past that have been injured, and we’ve gotten them back. Like Jaleel (Johnson) and DeSean Brown, but having the speed on the edge — it might be the deepest room we have at the time. Defensive end in particular, more so than the interior.” Oklahoma State fans might feel like they hit the transfer portal themselves when they see the newcomer-heavy Cowboys in the spring game on April 18th. That might not be the case at defensive end, considering Morris’ comment last…
Anyone, is April 18 open to the public? Anyone, Bueller? Ferris Bueller?
oSu
I would assume so.
Good to hear about the DEs. Hopefully, this will translate to good results this coming year.
Good news but does this say more about the coaches expectations moving up to P4 talent? The two guys called out were already here and the coaches are surprised at their speed?
Yes it’s the spring game. I’m going in between the softball game and the baseball game. If they want to make money they can charge $5 admission…or more. ![]()
Could be.
Coach Richmond already got these DEs disrupting the offense? We could’ve used that 3 seasons back! Ohhhhh wait… ![]()

Wish we could watch the softball game and the spring game, but I think they’ll run into each other. Not sure I wanna watch any more baseball games.
SB at 2, Spring game at 4, baseball at 6. I’m going to catch as much of all three as I can.
I thought the same.
If two guys off of last year’s 1 win team are dominating practice, then maybe the G5 transfers aren’t ready for P4.
Or our offensive line still sucks.
In fairness, 2 of the guys Richmond named were G5 guys. DJ Jackson and Keviyan Huddleston
I highly doubt it w/ the guys that came from UNT.
Well, I hope you’re right, but I’m not predicting it. There are some G6 guys that are legitimate P4 talents or who can grow into one, but I think we’re overestimating the value of the UNT guys as a whole. UNT lost the only two games they played against ranked opponents, both of which were other G6 teams. They played no P4 teams. Two of the unranked G6 teams they played took them to OT. Their best win was probably… 31-17 over Navy? They generally put up big numbers on the offensive side of the ball, so the linemen are probably at least solid and they’ll have another year of seasoning, but I don’t know that they’re going to be among the better Big XII units.
I don’t think any of us, hope not, are thinking we’re going to win 10 games or more, but we’ll be a LOT better than we were the last two seasons. It’ll be a big adjustment for those UNT guys, but I think the triplets will do well, and with the other transfers we got, we should win around 6 games if not more. We also got Seaton, a starter at zerOU, and that other O-lineman from where was it, Michigan State? Forgot already…
Yeah, six is a reasonable expectation. Five to seven wins is a good range, I think.
