Derek Mason Says '85%' of OSU's Defensive Scheme Will Remain the Same

AR’s statement is true. He would’ve been canned in three or four years. Those schools aren’t going to put up with just three major bowl appearances over a 17 year gap.

Florida didn’t do it with Muschamp, Mullen, or McElwain. Tennessee has proven they aren’t just willing to settle for a bowl game. Even LSU has made a statement they aren’t willing to have a .500 season after winning a national title.

One of the only few schools in the country willing to pay big bucks for any bowl is OSU. Purdue is the other one I can think of right off the top of my head.

Exactly if in your mind 3 years is the same as 11 years and not being able to win a second conference title is the same as being in 2 National Championships and winning one.

But you keep telling yourself that 1 conference title in 17 years is elite.

And he got busted out of Kansas like a chump.

What are you talking any about? Those schools got torched those years. I don’t think they finished.500

Here’s exactly what I’m talking about.
Tom Herman
2017 7-6 Tied for 4th Won Texas Bowl
2018 10-4 2nd CCG Won Sugar Bowl
2019 8-5 Tied for 3rd Won Alamo Bowl
2020 7-3 3rd. Won Alamo Bowl
Overall 32-18

Mike Gundy
2017. 10-3 3rd. Won Camping World
2018. 7-6. Tied for 7th Won Liberty
2019. 8-5. Tied for 3rd Lost Texas
2020 8-3. 3rd. Won Cheez it
Overall 33-17

Obviously Gundy didn’t play in a conference championship game or win a NY6 Bowl. So his record would have gotten him fired at Texas.

Where in the hell did Herman get thrown into the mix ? You moron we aren’t Texas and don’t have Texas money !! I’ll promise you if Gundy was at Texas with all the talent they have Gundys record would he a lot better than Herman’s

Sure it would. And our expectations are not as high as Texas so we are quite content with 3rd or 4th and just making the Liberty Bowl.

In your small mind Jug :cowboy_hat_face:

I guess since you guys like to talk about Texas so much AR decided maybe he should make a past comparison to Gundy. You guys talk about how Texas sucks (Which is fine) and totally ignore any legitimate comparison to Gundy. That’s called being bigot.

If you tripled Gundy’s resources, you don’t think he’d win more? Texas obviously has some behind the scenes dysfunction, but when schools are interested in Gundy, it’s because he is challenging the elite teams on a shoestring budget. They obviously think he would do more with more resources at his disposal.

As the resources have increased at Stillwater have the results got better in the last 10 years? What did he have in 2011 that they took away from him? Maybe it was someone who could run a offensive and never stop to try and not lose.

Like who? We’re 4-7 against Baylor and 2-8 against OU in the last 10 meetings. We got our a55 kicked at home against K State and TCU in 2017. ND (while they have a good program) is 0-10 in major bowl games since 1999. When Texas was still good we got our a55 kicked by them in the Gundy era too. We got our a55 kicked in the Sugar Bowl against Ole Miss.

Texas has almost triple the budget we have had over the years. It’s changing this year. Isn’t Texas always rated in the top 5 for recruits or does that escape you Joey …. You understand nothing about football, absolutely nothing

When did the resources jump up Jug other than Boones money ? How much has it increased ? You and Joey making chit up again

What you don’t understand is that if Gundy were to go to Texas, Florida, or Tennessee and pull a 32-18 over 4 years it’s most likely he wouldn’t be employed there any longer. You guys think because he’s done decent in Stillwater that he would excel at those places. That isn’t necessarily the case.

When the hell have we ever been as relevant in football as we are now you imbecile !! ■■■■ you are non stop over something out of your control except you want Gundy fired. You’re screwed Alfalfa , he’s here till he’s ready to retire
You stooges are a laugh a day :joy::joy:

Why do you think resources have improved over ten years? Especially compared to other programs?

OK, so our 2020 recruiting budget was 29th (probably lower because private schools don’t report). Our recruiting rank in 2021 was 30th (which does include private schools). Our final AP rank in 2021 was 7th. Are you trying to make my case for me?

  • Recruited almost exactly in line with our budget, probably exceeded when you factor in Baylor, TCU, USC, Notre Dame, etc. Probably had really a 35th or lower ranked budget.
  • Vastly exceeded our recruitment spending in results, finishing 7th.
  • Conclusion: Gundy is a ■■■■ fine coach.

As for the 2018 numbers, that’s great, but how long was that increase overdue? If we jumped that much and we were still under Iowa State (something that hasn’t changed based on the 2020 rankings), then I think you see what we’ve been working with relative to other programs. We had to more than double our budget to get to lower middle of the conference (probably lower when you factor in TCU and Baylor). How you look at those numbers and don’t think Gundy is a godsend, genius, and guru is beyond me. He’s over here MacGuyvering a team that’s more successful than most of the teams outspending us.

Next time you want to complain about Gundy extorting money from Holder by threatening to quit, review these numbers and realize where the blame lies.
