FRISCO, Texas — It was the Cowboys’ turn to talk at Big 12 Media Days on Wednesday. Mike Gundy took to the stage Wednesday morning at The Star in Frisco to discuss the Cowboys’ upcoming season. Here’s everything he said on the main stage. On Iowa State Coach Matt Campbell “Well, Matt’s been very successful for quite a while. I was thinking about that the other day. I don’t know how many years he’s been there, but he’s done a good job. Not a place that’s a really easy build, but he built it up really well. They ought to take good care of him, try to keep him there as long as possible. He’s been very good for our conference.” On the quarterback room, the message to the QBs and how their summer went “Well, obviously it’s different. We don’t have a quarterback that’s ever played a snap for us at Oklahoma State. We’ve got a little bit of familiarity with a couple guys coming through spring, but it’s one of the things in the future of college football that’s a little bit scary — you don’t have as many guys in that room as you’d want to. Gundy does this a lot giving accolades to someone else that resembles his position or situation which in turn he is giving accolades to himself.
Paying attention ? Gundy was saying what he should. I never said Matt was a bad coach. I’m saying he’s not any better than Gundy
I’m sure you’re referring to the stadium ? How long does that have an affect on recruits , about 2 years and everyone caught up with us

Matt Campbell didn’t have a billionaire in his corner. Gundy forgot to mention that.
It doesn’t seem to matter when your coach decides to continuously recruit in the high 30’s or lower 40’s anyway. Then say “they won’t come here” when his new coordinators are proving his theory wrong

Your memory is about as short as your business 
wasn’t but a few years ago we had 7 four stars None stayed I don’t think. I could be wrong and one stayed. You bragging on the current staff doesn’t have 7 yet but I think they are getting really good athletes. We have had many 4 stars or 3 star that were steals until Gundy started recruiting them. Texas knew Gundy recognized talent and they always came in and bid over us. You should try keeping up. Joe

We got 3 according to 247 sports in 2022 (29th nationally). Two of them transferred. Only for us to turn around two short years later and watch us go 0-9 in the conference . See what happens when you have incompetent coaching? You need better players.

Gundy could’ve beaten an OU team he was better than that was down to it’s third string QB. Could’ve won his second conference title. He wetted his trousers.
2021:
Gundy could’ve won a third conference title had he decided not to hire an incompetent and fake OC he eventually had to fire .
When were we buying players then? And when were other teams? NIL was not introduced until July 1, 2021. By that time, all of the college football programs would’ve already had their set rosters before the season started. Go ahead and please explain that to me oh wise one!!!

Yea….because Boone can’t legally buy players. Gundy was given the tools for that. He miserably failed with the exception of very few.
