From the OSU corner going crazy to DC on commentary, it was an awesome moment.

@marshall you have to get the radio call and post it. That must have been nuts.

All I’ve heard is how it’s the biggest upset in college wrestling history. Wyatt is a number two and Gable is number one. I understand Gable won olympic gold. Is that why it’s the biggest upset in history? I have no clue about anything wrestling history or current events so I’m as ignorant as they come when it comes to wrestling. I’d love for someone to explain why, and not just vaguely but really give context. That would be great. Thanks!

I think you would have to be a college wrestling fan for many years to appreciate the significance of this upset. I jumped off the sofa at the 30 second mark and screamed, " I don’t believe this! OMG! OMG! I don’t believe it!". I remember watching an interview earlier in the season when Wyatt said he came to OSU to become a national champion. I thought, no way, you are good but you have to beat a national champion and then a national champion who also is an Olympic champion. Impossible . Because Wyatt did the impossible this was one of the biggest upsets in NCAA history. No one even scored a takedown against Steveson this season. He also might be the greatest heavyweight of all time. That’s the context of this upset. No one can take down Steveson and no one can ride Steveson. But Wyatt did both. In doing so he also stole the show from Starocci becoming the first 5 time NCAA champion.

GREATEST SPORTS MOMENT OF THE YEAR…hands down - oSu fan or not! So stinkin awesome!!! Having DC on the call just absolutely MADE IT! So great…
GO POKES!!

One thing would be that Steveson hadn’t given up a takedown all season and Hendrickson gives him his first with a quarter of a minute left to go in the finals.
