Don’t recall these heat problems when Glass was running workouts. Not complaining, merely musing outloud… Were most (because Coach spoke in the plural) of the heat issues with players from Northern states like Lepo? If the heat stays, how will that bode for Oregon?

Yeah, that’s a little troubling. At least he’s calling it out, but you don’t want to hear that.

I am glad we have a head coach mentioning players names and not their jersey numbers!

I thought the exact same thing on the conditioning - never heard anything like that in the “body by Glass” days. Now maybe HCMG just never mentioned if there were struggles , but one thing he mentioned consistently during our days of winning is how much of the success was due to Rob Glass conditioning (specifically our comeback against Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl and many other times ). We shall see.

A thing that is encouraging - it seems the coaches are teaching tackling techniques to all the players. Heard them talking about angles and pad levels - one of the most frustrating aspects is seeing a bunch of missed tackles that impact a games outcome, especially when some skinny kid on the other team wraps our player up and tackles or slows until help comes.

I hope to God it becomes a huge factor for him. I remember my 19 year old self running around Fort Benning, GA from June through September with pretty much a heat suit on and tons of gear on me for 16 hours a day. If these guys can’t go a couple of hours wearing a few pads and fresh water around them then we’ll be in a world of hurt :+1:.

Conditioning doesn’t matter much when your 4-20 in two years.

My brother told me that returning from a run in the Georgia heat they ran them through sprinklers or showers to cool off… he was 82nd.

When was this? I went through 23 years ago and I never got a sprinkler treatment. Instead I was forced to drink a quart of water that tasted like plastic.

1970, then he was at Fort Bragg in 1971 - both my older brothers were Army, the oldest in Vietnam and the one right above me in the 82nd. My dad was Navy during WWII and that was my service too, under Carter and Reagan.
