Five Thoughts on NCAA Wrestling Championships Brackets

On Fix’s gift, expectations and more.

My own thoughts.
I love Fix’s quiet demeanor and modesty along with his technical skills and strength.
But he’s not beating Arujau or Crookham.
Jordan Williams unfortunately will not finish the tournament or maybe even his first match. He should not even attempt to wrestle.
If Dustin Plott makes it to the finals that would be sensational and he would have reached his full potential.
No telling what Spratley is capable of if he maintains focus.
Thompson just doesn’t have it all together yet. He’s not used to this high level of competition.
We are not finishing above Iowa State.
If our guys do well, then a 5th place finish seems reasonable. Lost points because of Williams injury. Williams probably won’t be able to workout next week.

On Williams injury I agree. I watched him get hurt in his match before the B12 final round and I got hurt in the exact same way wrestling in HS. Essentially dislocated my shoulder and it hurt like the dickens. Couldn’t move my arm at all the next day. Williams is one tough hombre trying to wrestle in the B12 final with that injury. He might be ok in two weeks, depending on the severity of the injury but he is not going to get much practice in between now and then.
