Arkansas is where a coaches’ career goes to die. Bobby Petrino, Chad Morris, Brett Beleima, and now Sam Pittman. The people there aren’t content with 7-5 seasons like they are at OSU. We’ve proven we’ll give a coach an Aircraft Carrier filled with money for being bowl eligible. Arkansas would do that just to get rid of a coach that gets them to bowl eligibility and no further.
My hope is that mindset changes and we actually win a couple of conference titles like many on here said we should’ve done once OU and Texas left. How on earth do you get worse in a conference flooded with mediocre competition mostly? Anyway, what’s the over/under he wins the conference within 5 years?
We play in Fayetteville in 2027 not next year. Oregon is going to give us another whooping before we start the Arky series again.

As I said after Gundy was fired, I agreed with the decision. However, by doing so, Chad and the BOR called their shot. Now it’s put up or shut up time. If this hire flames out, then Morris won’t be the only one losing his job.
I would also say it’s put up or shut up time for the big donors who left their $$$ on the sidelines because of Gundy. Time to get your skin in the game (as we all need to do in our own way).
Having said all that, I do like the hire, and I think/hope he can jump start this program for a quick turnaround and build momentum going forward.

I hope and wish him success. After witnessing what our “leadership” has done for what was left of the coaching staff and their product on the field, added to the 40+ million dollar price tag to have Gundy walk, this ENTIRE mess is their responsibility and concurrent evidence of lack of capacity. I don’t like the model Morris brings with him if Im honest. He appears to be a renta coach. as soon as he starts winning he will leave for some other “were better than OSU” team. I hope I’m wrong. Glad he has a QB coming with him in theory too. We’ve seen what happens when your coaches “guy” goes down for the season. I’d almost prefer he didnt bring the one he has. Go pokes.

Most, if not all, successful coaches use this “model”. You wouldn’t have liked any hire if that’s your issue.

Most guys want the situation that is best for them, which is more often than not, the most reputable job. Oklahoma St is a really good football program. Its a top 25-30 job. If one comes open that is better…99% will take it. The odds of a program finding back-to-back Mike Gundy types are extremely rare.

So what if he is a rent-a-coach if he rebuilds the program. What’s a guy like that want? Coaching his alma mater? I kinda doubt it. UT-Austin, a T-Tech guy? Nope. Maybe a Florida State or some place like that, but enjoy the rebuild cause it’s gonna happen!

Not necessarily. A lot of that’s going to depend on what the criteria is and how much OSU is willing to pay him. Matt Campbell is in his 10th season at Iowa State. A lot of it will also depend on how Eric Morris feels about his situation as well.
So exactly do you want? 0-27 in the conference? Because if thats the case we should’ve never fired Gundy. His inability to change and ability to complain would’ve kept us going down that path.
Nah, I’m fine with a coach being here 4-5 years instead of becoming the next doormat and automatic W on everyone’s schedule like Kansas used to be. Maybe we can get another conference title under this guy.
