The Pokes are still fighting.
Well, I gotta give it to the guys, every one stepped up, played hard, and made big plays. While this is a good win, it’s also a reminder of both TCU games and an ASU team we should’ve beat. We’d be in pretty good shape had we won those. ![]()
But, still, it was very nice to see us get a win, on the road against a tournament team no less.
I was thinking seriously of turning this off when they were getting killed in the first half. Glad I stayed. It looked like these guys may have actually fugured some things out. Gives me hope for the future. Go Pokes..
How many possessions – in a row! – did we foul to end regulation? This team doesn’t know how to win, yet won anyway. Maybe a stepping stone…but we do need to stop fouling on the rare occasions we have a lead late in a game.
Probably should include OU in that list as well.
Yeah, well, many of those fouls were pretty ticky tack. Meanwhile, we were getting mauled on the other end. Isaiah Coleman’s dunk should have been an and-one, and Roy’s arm got completely hacked on his last second point blank attempt in regulation. Even the color guy (UCF commenting crew) made the observation that UCF couldn’t get a bucket but were getting free throws every trip down the last five minutes of regulation. I was glad they finally called their post guy on the elbow to Roy’s face. That guy had been hooking arms and shoving all night.
Great win on the road for Lutz and the team. The score doesn’t show it, but the defense came to life from halfway through the first half until well into the second half. A very nice second road win for Lutz. I agree with PL, though, that you have to wonder, what if we just had a little more defense and could knock off TCU both times (should have) and ASU?
