Five Thoughts on Oklahoma State's 75-70 OT Loss to Baylor

Cowboys start Big 12 play 0-1.

I give credit to Boynton for obviously getting this team ready to play, be competitive, and win the game; however, this is dumbfounding…

“They both were pretty gassed there late, but we want to run action and get them the ball. So Dailey usually has a bigger, non-guard guarding him. They just switched [Small’s] man. I turned around. I didn’t even see it. I saw [Small] about to be pressured and told Eric to just bring it and run the action, and by the time I turned around — I’ll have to watch the film to know exactly what happened — they were laying the ball up.”

But…but…Small already had the ball and then gave it to Daily, it wasn’t like Daily had to go get it because Small was being pressured. Why do this at THAT point in the game even if Small was gassed? That makes no sense to me and I wish Small would’ve just waived off that nonsense.

Meanwhile the women’s team pulled off an upset beating #23 TCU 67-59!

Went back through the play-by-play: 25 of Baylor’s 31 baskets were either layups or dunks.

That just can’t happen. Adjust.

Can’t keep loosing home games

We have to hold Coach Boynton to a higher standard. My gosh the guy can recruit and seems like a really good guy but these results are not acceptable in my opinion. At what point do we say enough is enough and look to move on?

Sweet child of innocence guys. We’re starting TWO freshman and a sophomore!! This was a great game that shows incredible promise. Granted they’ve had some ugly losses and some ugly plays in this game but they were playing a really good team, really early in the season and were a few plays from winning. Glass is half full to me.

I’m right there with ya in regards to the positivity - it’s just a difficult roller coaster of emotions when you start watching with no expectations, then hope grows as you realize “hey, we’re actually looking really solid…could we pull this out?!”, only to watch us make those mistakes at the end to lose the game.

But I’m still trying, lol.

2 things that doesnt work. If this was Mike’s first year. Second in the portal era, these young guys may be gone next year.

There is no doubt they will get better as coach boyton’s teams always do at the end of the seasons but like gundy the both of them can’t get their teams coming out firing in the first of the season for some reason. Every year boyton puts his teams behind the wagon and finding themselves clawing and scratching their way to get in the tournament and leaving it up to the Committee.

This has to be the year. Tired of hearing him compliment his players for playing hard and competing, fighting, grinding. We’ve been going through this same scenario year after year with Boynton. The story is always about these great young players learning and getting better, but here we are. The only year we’ve doing anything was the Cade year. Yes he can recruit, and i’m sure he’s a great guy, but it’s enough…
