Steve Lutz might have himself a squad.
We could have a real team. Lutz seems to be cooking.
I’m not going to get my hopes up too high on an exhibition game, but it’s something. I miss OSU basketball.
Please let this be a sign of a good season ![]()
…on the road. Tenacity.

“It’s just an exhibition. It’s just an exhibition. It’s just an exhibition.”
Who cares?!!? That was SO fun to watch…what a game for the October “scrimmage” fans in the seats! I’m trying trying to breathe deeply and maintain a sense of reasonableness. (I don’t want to - I NEED this!! We all do…))
GO POKES!
At least it wasn’t a home exhibition loss to Tulsa or ORU.
Lutz has shown he can improve BB programs at a smaller level. He has experience coaching at Creighton and Purdue. He apparently can recruit and get his players to play and work hard for him. Lutz very well could have the package that make a special coach. It’s early but promising.
I’ll take it.
Watched the replay. That was a real freaking win and it’s a shame that it didn’t count. On top of the considerations mentioned in the article (cowboys short four players, crap reffing), I’d add…
Had the feel of a true road game. Small crowd in a smallish venue (they said 2,000 on hand), but it was loud and basically a home crowd in Birmingham for Auburn.
Which led to some unbelievable home cooking. 49 free throws for them with 29 for us? We couldn’t touch them without getting whistled. Which is fine if they call it both ways, which they definitely did not.
For us to win this one despite these challenges is pretty impressive. I’m calling it now…we will be in the tourney this year, and not as a last draw.
Gundy is gone so you can relax now. I was hoping him getting fired would stop Your negativity. Geez
Agreed, posts on every basketball article referencing football topics that shouldn’t be valid now that Gundy is gone. Time to get over it.
Troll is going to Troll.
We’ve lost to Tulsa and ORU in basketball before. That’s what I was referring to. I’m saying beating #20 is better than losing to a nobody.
