WOW! I did not see that coming. Congrats to Boyton and I hope he does well (unless he’s playing us
).
They HAD TO or some of the players might’ve hit the portal after this season. They lost a lot of talent, 3 players in the first round of 26 NBA draft. But anyway, I think most oSu fans are happy for Boynton!!!
I wouldn’t put my money this being a big success but I hope he kicks ass there. He’s a good dude and does everything right except winning games.
I expect him to have a lot of success. He had a lot of obstacles to overcome at OSU, but he did his best with a great attitude. With what he learned at OSU and during his time at Michigan, I think he will be a top tier coach for a long time.
He 100% deserves it. I just don’t know if I see it personally.
Good for him. He had a bad deal here with sanctions and crappy players that could not shoot or hit the broad side of a barn. He is older and more experienced. He will have much better players at Michigan.
I can’t say enough great things about coach Boynton. He did so much with the guys he got. There’s one of those seasons where we had no business doing some of the things we did like beating a great Baylor team at their house when we were decimated by injuries and were playing with a roster of 8. He fought for Oklahoma State when we were getting screwed again by the NCAA. No coach ever stood up for the program and his players like he did and that includes Mike Gundy when he was 40. I wish nothing but the best for coach Boynton and hope we can meet him in the Final Four sometime soon.
I’m happy for him, CONGRATULATIONS!
This will be interesting to watch because if he is still coaching no defense basketball with jack-it from downtown parking lot offense then Michigan basketball will deteriorate…, time will tell if he has learned how to coach!
I know Mike Boynton is a nice guy, but he was an unmitigated disaster as a coach. I do not get the Boynton lovefest.
Will be interesting to see what his actual results at UM are. Look at Belichick. He was a loser when coaching the Browns, then won 7 Super Bowls with NE. Sometimes the issues are with the program and not the coach. OSU’s program certainly had some issues during MB’s tenure. I’ll be very curious if he can run a coherent offense with UM’s better talent, or if he just has better results due to better overall athletes.
