Can the Cowboys land an OU legacy?
His dad, Kejuan, was one of the first OK HS players to get recruited! He started at Hale and was at Jenks the next year. Kinda surprised his kid is at B/A, but probably cause real estate in south Tulsa/Jenks is crazy high these days, but one would’ve thought Jenks would recruit him too. Different coaches now though. BTW if people think recruiting still doesn’t go on, Brennen Presley started his HS career at Booker T.
“Recruiting” was going on in 1980. Not quite to the level and visibility it is now, but it was going on.
Assuming we are talking HS teams recruiting here then there is nothing new with that. Its been going on forever and in more sports than Football. I have personal knowledge of HS wrestlers being recruited back in the early '70’s.
He is at Jenks. He started at BA and transferred.
Name somebody from 1980. That’s when they closed Tulsa Mason and half the athletes went to Hale and the other half went to Memorial making both schools really good in both football and baseball.
I was referring to recruiting among high schools, and not specifically the year 1980, rather at least that far back because that was my last season. Again, not to the extent and visibility it is today, just that high school coaches knew and liked to have talent from other schools.
