Gundy Says 'Black Lives Matter to Me,' in Public Apology following Turbulent Monday

While I agree completely, as Christians our divorce rate is nothing to be proud of. I hope to never be part of that negative statistic but we have to be better on this too. More morality and values in the family is the tide that raises all ships.

Could be that romantic relationships are on the backburner because all of someone’s attention is focused on paying rent and eating.

One of the commonly identified issues is that especially in less educated areas, the men aren’t good financial bets because they are often unemployed moreso than the women. So women might view it more as halving her income than doubling it. Which is unfortunate because a lot of research seems to indicate that men are more successful when married.

Since the way the percentages were given was “a major issue” and “a minor issue” I’d assume you could pick both “I haven’t met the right person” and “financial instability” as reasons.

is it possible that we’ve begun a “healthy” and productive debate? Even if its only like 4 people. And 4 people with differing views on the matter.

That is why I’m saying “articulate and explain” all the time. I didn’t say that all racism and oppression is completely eradicated. I just find it comical that people seem to think it’s at Civil Rights Movement levels when all the data in the world is out there telling us that isn’t presently the case. Minorities have more opportunity RIGHT now that at any other time in American history. Now it’s up to them if they want to make the best of that opportunity. What we have to work with as of right now are facts and statistics. Using these methods doesn’t mean someone is a bigot or insensitive to the cause.

That’s cool. Since it’s such a huge problem maybe BLM should go after the US Department of Education and stop harassing everyday people just trying to live their lives and take care of their own families. They don’t have to go after conservative white people and point the finger at them all the time. Their beef should be with government institutions. Email or call congressmen and women. Nobody says they don’t have a right to protest or be angry. Just be sure to use your aggression towards the right people and institutions. Most white people are pretty rational and could care less if a person is white or black. I’m not upset because anyone is black. What upsets me is how far they are willing to go (and not in a good way) to get what they want. Trying to get people fired, shaming people, and constant harassment on social media. All this will do is cause resentment and totally backfire. In fact, it already has. If you think things are bad now then wait until Trump gets re-elected. That movement will move from steroids to cocaine.

He’s racist to point out a fact and statistic? He’s not condoning racism at all. He just simply pointed out a fact. If you think facts equal racism then your point is mute.

:heart::heart::heart:

You might want to make sure they are responsible with cash before just handing it to them.

No one is saying it is at civil rights levels, but it is there and shouldn’t be ignored. to blow that off is insensitive because the need for improvement is still definitely there. they may have more rights than they have had in the past, but still not the same rights as non-minorities

Elaborate please?

“The police fatally shot nine unarmed blacks and 19 unarmed whites in 2019, according to a Washington Post database, down from 38 and 32, respectively, in 2015. The Post defines “unarmed” broadly to include such cases as a suspect in Newark, N.J., who had a loaded handgun in his car during a police chase. In 2018 there were 7,407 black homicide victims. Assuming a comparable number of victims last year, those nine unarmed black victims of police shootings represent 0.1% of all African-Americans killed in 2019. By contrast, a police officer is 18½ times more likely to be killed by a black male than an unarmed black male is to be killed by a police officer” - Wall Street Journal, June 2nd, 2020

Q: How can Gundy enforce or institute any sort of dress code, etc. for his players when he continues to sport the ridiculous mullet and refuses to shave? He looks like he ought to be a bass player for a band at the local Holiday Inn – not the CEO of a major college football program.

A: Gundy wants attention.

I have to say, even if you like the mullet, it definitely looks weird with the ultra groomed beard he’s sporting now

Especially since the beard isn’t getting the same dye treatment as the mullet. I love the mullet. Growing one myself in solidarity (and because I’m working from home indefinitely, so why not). But if you’re going to pretend your hair’s still brown, you gotta Just For Men that beard too!

Related: I still want to know why Coach K isn’t a national spokesperson for his hair dye!
