How Hoyt went from one player on her roster to collecting one of the more promising teams in program history.
Amazing recruiting job by Coach Hoyt - can’t wait to see the new roster on the court in November.
I would like to know why so many of the former players left. I remember reading about Hoyt’s recruiting of Girardi - it almost sounded like Girardi thought of Hoyt as a big sister. Then Girardi leaves after one season?
No idea and that surprised me too - when people are whining about a lack of playing time, sometimes that has a residual effect on otherwise stable players, especially if the parents are whining too… it’s like water eroding an otherwise solid foundation. Hoyt should have addressed it when it first became apparent (didn’t she have to know?).
Meanwhile, is Hoyt finished in the Portal because it would be nice to close out with a 6’6” player for the team next year. A bit more height would be a good thing…

The girls who left were outstanding women and very good basketball players! You just don’t get that movement without a reason - sister husband etc…I wonder too who is behind all the NIL support for the girls. She assembled some great talent. I hope they do well and hope all the girls who left find a great place to continue their careers and their life.
Sad the crazy world we live in w/ the NIL/portal thing. Without trying to sound like Mike Gumby II, it’s nuts to me that any program loses 10 players out of 11. I feel for the coaches and staff who have to scramble fill out their rosters. There needs to be much more control of what’s allowed.
Hoyt and co did an amazing job to get some of the players though.
I kinda wondered if the players who left knew that Hoyt was going to make some big move in the portal due to big time donor and decided to hit the portal ![]()
That could definitely play a role. I was reading on another site about one players parent(s) claiming Hoyt misled them about how much playing time their daughter would receive (and I saw the parents post). I don’t know if others players parents posted something negative.
At the beginning of the season, it was noticeable that Hoyt was trying to spread the wealth, IMHO. Later in the season the lineup seemed to shorten… I don’t know why except performance and trust in critical situations, that is at crunch time???
Did all the girls land at comparable universities?
