'I Think He's Ready Now': Zane Flores Enters Redshirt Freshman Season after Year of Learning

You guys all talk about the qb. I would like to have the top 4 or 5 recievers make thur the season.

My proof is in Robinson, Weeden, and Rudolph.

How is that proof? Your original comment makes no sense and you claim it as “proof”? Proof of what? That you have no idea what you are talking about and just make crap up? I’ll take it as proof of that.

Proof that we seem to always make sure the talent at QB tends to sit deep on a depth chart instead of being out on the field. We found that out with Robinson vs Reid, Cate vs Weeden, and Rudolph vs Garman. Of course, over more recent years, we haven’t really had that QB battle. I don’t really know if Bowman is truly better than what we have on the roster now. There was nothing in those first three or four games last season that suggested to me he was.

I suppose he did fine the rest of the season. However, I don’t ever get to see what the others can do. That’s the issue though. Nobody on the coaching staff wants to come out and admit they possibly made a blunder. Given the fact we’ve actually SEEN this happen before. Which is exactly why I said in my first comment “I wonder if he might be better than Bowman”. How about you stop getting upset and just read in context?

Not going to matter if we continue throwing the ball to the other team.

Wait a minute, it makes a difference to play tge top qb but not recievers. Yes your proving more and more.

I didn’t say you can’t play top receivers. What I’m saying is that it’s hard to score when your starting QB only throws 15 passing touchdowns in a season and just as many interceptions. Why do you think we have to rely on our run game so much?

Thank you for actually giving some context rather than just tossing out one negative one liner after another.

With regard to Robinson vs. Reid. I don’t know if you remember but Reid may have been the most highly rated QB recruit ever at OSU and not giving him opportunity would have been stupid. Also, Robinson was a skinny kid that needed time to develop with a redshirt year. When Reid continued sucking Gundy put in Robinson.

Cate vs. Weeden may be your best argument but even Weeden admitted he was not good in practice so the coaches did not know what they had. Also, Cate was pulled after the first half and the only reason he was playing was because Robinson was hurt. It’s not like Gundy played the guy game after game with Weeden on the bench. My only regret that year is Gundy started Robinson, who was obviously still hurt, in Bedlam. I think we could have beat them with Weeden. Of course, if Gundy had put in Weeden over Robinson that would have had you armchair coaches up in arms.

The Garman vs. Rudolph example is nonsense. OSU sucked that year and the coaches were trying to preserve Rudolph’s redshirt because the team was so awful. Also playing Rudolph that entire year could have gotten him injured because our O-line was garbage. Garman sucked but he was also running for his freaking life. It’s too bad we had to play Rudolph or we could have gotten another year out of him.

I’m not saying that Gundy never makes a bad decision but the Dude wins games. Period. I think you should cut him some slack. As a very longtime OSU fan it does upset me when people like you just say negative crap over and over and over and over again just to be an ass. At least that is the way you come off to me and I assume, many others.

The key word here is CONTINUED. How many games do you need proof of before replacing a QB?

If memory serves me right. We decided to play a Robinson with an injured shoulder the entire game against OU in which we lost 27-0. Again, what or how much, needs to be proven to you that something is clearly not working? For me if your shoulder and arm isn’t working then perhaps Weeden would be better in that game :man_shrugging:.

So preserve a redshirt rather than trying to win? Got it :+1:.

  1. We don’t change anything until disaster strikes
  2. We have a tendency to play down to the level of the competition
  3. We’re 1-5 since 2011 when it comes to a conference title
  4. Other programs that aren’t BB programs don’t seem to have an issue of winning multiple conference titles.
  5. We tell ourselves to be thankful to be runner-up (or less) with the highest paid coach in the conference. While other programs that don’t have as much success continue to win conference titles.

Nah, I think 13 years is long enough my friend.
