The single largest monetary gift in college sports history was wasted by a man that fights programs like North Texas for recruits, plays not to lose, and invested more time into his stupid hair than his football program. Thatâs fine. At least their football program has been to the CFP, won conference titles, and been to a couple of national title games. Recruiting got better too. Thatâs usually what happens when you take advantage of monetary gifts that come to fund your athletics program. Youâre missing the entire point here.

Like I keep sayingâŚâŚyouâre missing the entire point here. Whether you like it admit it, or not, a giant portion of that money went towards the football program and Gundy squandered it all away like he does when it comes to conference title games.
He had several years at the beginning of his tenure to sell OSU to high caliber players with the money donated by Boone and some of the best facilities in the country (including the future ones to be built). Instead, he decided that battling North Texas and Arkansas State for recruits was a better plan. Then people wonder why we never win Bedlam or win conference titlesđ¤ˇââď¸.

Big 12 conference titles donât mean anything when your coach has 1 in 17 years.
Rivalries donât mean anything when your coach is 3-14.
Recruiting doesnât mean anything when your coach recruits in the 30âs and 40âs.

Because they know itâs dead and are seeking a newer challenge. When a business is going under you donât continue to remain with the same policies. You either merge with another business or get out of the business completely.
If conference titles donât matter then high echelon recruits wouldnât consistently go to schools that have a higher chance of getting to the CFP or National Title game. Youâre actually contradicting yourself here. Go ask Gundy if conference titles matter when it comes to recruiting and building a traditional program.
Iâm willing to bet he would disagree with your point that they donât matter. Any real talented recruit wants to develop into a pro and champion. They donât want a consolation prize and just be happy enough to be on an NFL practice squad.

Conference Titles absolutely matter. For multiple reasons. You automatically get a NY6 Bowl bid, which is lucrative in terms of exposure, practice, recruiting pitch, $$. Its the same for a Conf Title. You are typically recruiting against the teams in your Conf. Being able to bring in recruits to your practices in the DFW area. The exposure. To say they dont matter is stupid
