I went back and watched that game second time. Crazy I know, but I think TCU is a really good defensive team and wanted to see if they were doing something that made Dunn and Gundy make such strange playcalling on offense. I couldn’t see anything. TCU has extreme speed at linebacker and safety but no big stunts to cause such strange playcalling.
You’re bringing up schools that aren’t content with 4th in the conference. Anyone who is wanting to keep Gundy, must be content with 4th.
Yea we are already there. Whats the point if we loose all our games or just half of them either way we suck.
I’m telling you all right now. It’s like having Pat Jones again. Gundy initially did well but is now leading this program back to the good ole days of 3-8 or 4-7 records. Now it’s not to that point YET, but I have a feeling that in the next 5-6 years that’s where we will be.
I’m just saying we need to take a chance with a new coach and see if we can prevent those days from coming back. Imagine how pissed all of us we’ll be if Gundy is in season 21 in Stillwater, and OSU is finishing 4-8 and struggling to beat the lower tier teams in the league?
At least they had the balls to try something different.
Is it better to keep Gundy for the next 5-6 seasons with him eventually getting let go after a couple of 4-8 seasons?
Or should we act now while the program is somewhat stable and hire a young innovative coach to make it better?
Exactly. What is OSU’s record in the Big 12 over the last few years? What are our recruiting ranking? It’s getting stale. Time to move on.

Texas: 1-2
Baylor: 0-2
Kansas: 3-0
K State: 2-1
Tech: 1-2
Iowa State: 2-1
TCU: 1-2
WV: 3-0
He’s 14-10 against other teams since that time. He also has a losing record against four of the eight teams I just named. You can’t build a championship caliber football team doing that.
I just thought I’d mention he is also 2-6 against Baylor since the beginning of the 2012 season.

Hey Ar. Where did I say I was satisfied with Gundy. I am just saying have your replacement identified before you pull the trigger or we can join the other schools that I named in 4th place. If not I’ll take Gundys job and paycheck for a year. $5 mil a year later in my pocket and I wouldn’t care if you fired me either.
Exactly. Firing Gundy or any coach isn’t just a spur of the moment decision. After 15 years it probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to get some new energy in the program. But I agree with Brian you have to have a new candidate in mind that you know will be good and you’re confident you can sign. The next coach will probably be the most important in OSU football history, Gundy has made OSU legit we’re no longer a joke but the wrong hire and we’re right back to where we were before Gundy, with the right hire you take that next step and start truly competing for and winning big 12 championships.
I think the reason the play calling was so vanilla and conservative is because they don’t trust Sanders to throw. To me that means you should start someone else, that’s the coaching decision I have a problem with, I understand not letting Sanders lose the game for you but we have another option.
I think Gumby is handcuffing Dunn’s playcalling. I could be wrong but the plays look the same since Yurcich was calling plays. Very little plays which are different. We cannot possibly help our QBs w/ crossing routes, slants, posts, TE look-ins, and no trick plays. Running plays are also very predictable. Hey, bunch that O-line in real tight and call a run play, that’ll trick defenses.
Yeah, that’s B$! It makes it harder for any QB if you’re just gonna throw to the sidelines 90% of the time w/ back-shoulder fades, bubble screens and go routes. Doesn’t keep the defense honest at all and we don’t do it w/ our run game neither. Little to NO misdirection.

Sanders cant complete simple play how do u open up more plays. That o line held up agaisnt tcu.
It didnt help that our defense made tcu qb look like he was a passer.

Besides Gundy going out and quarterbacking, not much u can do with Sanders. He just not quick enough.

I hear Fire Gundy, Fire Gundy. I have yet to hear Hire So and So, he’s a great up and comer. Texas moved on from Mack Brown, Tennessee moved on from Fulmer, USC has been toiling in the second tier for years. Miami, Florida, FSU, UCLA, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas, USC all fell down the pecking order when they fired a coach or couldn’t find a comparable replacement when a great coach retired. Until you so called experts can give me a name or names that can do better than Gundy all I’m hearing is disgruntled fans. Urban Meyer recently said it best. Fans want an undefeated season, #1 recruiting class, always beat your main rival, no off-field issues, graduate every player, all players drafted in 1st or 2nd round. Get a reality check. Can we do better in recruiting, play calling, conf. champion, CFP? Hell yes. Can we do it with Gundy. Doubtful. Tell me WHO can and will he come and I will listen. Until then you Sunday morning coaches need to support the Cowboys through good times and bad. Don’t be a Sooner fan. We know the problem, come up with a solution. Then I will listen.

Many of the schools have fired coaches with much better records than Gundy and many have done even better, like Baylor after firing Briles or LSU after firing Miles.
You could probably come up with a better offensive scheme and plays than what we’re doing now. Are you kidding, there are plenty of younger coaches or those at smaller schools that could outcoach Mike any day of the week. What good does it do to talk names if Doofy is never gonna get the boot???
