Another lose with big lead.
Boynton has to get these guys into some sort of offensive set.
Ice is a 65% career ft shooter. The other are freshman in first big 12 game, I hope.
There has been a good trend of offensive rebounding. Bad trend their no scoring put backs.
Set flavors, get him motivated. Play walker.
Problem is we have alot of guys that do the same thing, and each r as poor at it.
We need 5 guys at 30 mins. And 5 at 10. Not 8 at 20.
Missed FTs big reason for the loss. However, the game flipped and TCU went on their run when Boyton got scared and pulled Boone. Not to mention, MAM was killing it for the first 10 minutes or so of the second half, only to be pulled and not seen again.
I really like Boynton as a person. He is genuine and a wonderful representative for the University. He relates well with players and seems to be a very good recruiter. However, in order to be a successful coach in the Big 12 he is going to have to improve. His teams do not really do anything in particular really well. His MTM defense is spread too far out and creates difficulties denying penetration, getting weak-side help, and closing out on 3-point shooters. They are terrible at blocking out and lack toughness in rebounding. This was a problem Underwood had and his assistant coaches talked him into adjusting to a more pack line defense and it improved their defense. Offensively, Boynton has abandoned the offense that Underwood ran and Boynton himself ran up until last year. I did not see any problems with it other than Underwood ran it much better and his adjustments were very good. Boynton seemed to lack the understanding of it and could not make the necessary adjustments to make it work effectively. He now runs motion, but the players execution has been poor in it too. If I was to describe Boyntonâs teams during his time here is they seem to be âa jack of all trades but master of none.â They do a lot of stuff but really do none of them well. To me thatâs what separates a good coach from an average one. A good coach has an identity that is easy to identify. They do a few things well and their teams are consistent in doing them well. This is what I have failed to see in Boyntonâs teams. As a person and recruiter he seems to be solid. However, he needs to make the next progressions in his coaching to be successful.
Dave thatâs basically what I have said. U have done it better lol. Also tho they need to get into the offensive set, I not care what it is. They firer up shots way to soon. He has to decide on starters and backups. They will never mesh rotating players like he does.
I agree. Shot selection is poor and it does not seem that the players roles are defined. One of the things that we should be seeing developed by now is a consistent 7-8 player rotation.
