Instant Recap: Defense Holds Strong, Cowboys Top West Virginia 20-13

Defense traveled.

Saw a bunch of people bashing Brown on Twitter. All idiots. He played great. He completed 76% of his passes, which is even more impressive considering the O-line played god awful the entire game. They were awful, and Brown still made great decisions with the ball. Not sure how anyone who knows anything about football could blame any of today’s negatives on Brown.

Not real pretty, but I’ll take the “W”! Let’s close out with another against ou in Stilly!!

Brown played well enough to win, not great. Not cool to be bashing the guy, but let’s not pretend he’s Weeden or somebody. Yeah, he completed 76% of his passes, but the majority were dumpoffs to Chuba or short passes to Stoner.

Quick question, if we win the next two games, will the “ten wins isn’t good enough” crowd be back in full force? Just asking for a friend.

Dru did what needed to be done to win the game. He looked more comfortable in the second half. Beat OU and he forever a great memory.

Brown definitely looked like a backup at times, but he led the team down the field his last two tries to win the game, and that’s what matters.

He did what the coaches told him to. It’s not his fault the coaches called screens half the game. But even on downhill and sideline throws, he always made the right decision, every time. His worst decision was the downhill pass to Johnson where Stoner was open, but even on that one Johnson had it in his hands and dropped it. I’m not saying he was elite, but not an ounce of the offensive issues today were his fault. Sanders would have performed no better than Brown did, because the offense was predicated on the way they played today.

He had 7 incompletions, and 4 of the 7 were throwaways in a rush. 2 of the other 3 were go route deep balls. I don’t even think he looked like a backup. He handled the offense well. The reason he didn’t have 300+ is because the playcalling didn’t allow it, but that’s okay, it worked.

It absolutely blows my mind that we’re 8-3 right now. I thought we were good enough to win 9-10 games before the year, but after losing to tech, Baylor, and Texas early on, I didn’t expect us to have a chance to win 10 games this year. Great past month all things considered.

He did not look like a backup at all. He made maybe one or two bad decisions the entire game, always took care of the ball — without appearing to play conservatively. He could start for most teams in this conference.

I hope Gundy goes all out again like last year. Aggressive play calling with Dru Brown could be a difference maker
