Instant Recap: Oklahoma State Falls to Arizona 41-13

The plane crash was the main cause of Eddie’s drinking. After the drunk driving thing, he hands it off to Sean. Which was always the plan, but should not have been. Sean was a tremendous assistant, but a subpar head coach. Sean gets arrested too, for OD’ing on pain pills.

Now, this is where I agree with you that Holder does have some blame. He basically said, “To hell with the Sutton’s they have embarrassed me enough, my next hire will NOT be from the Sutton coaching tree.” So he gets Travis Ford. Great first name, horrible coach. Then Holder gives him a contract that he never earned. Finally, fires him and goes back to the Sutton well to get Underwood. He bolts because Holder over-corrects on the contract. Oh, by the way, before he leaves for Illinois, he brings an assistant Lamont Evans….who gets us in a LOT of trouble. Evans goes to prison, thus an unprepared Boynton gets the job…while also being handcuffed by the NCAA. Thus, we now finally have Lutz. Steve seems to finally have us back on the right track. Took us 20 years of wandering in the desert, but we’re almost back. And the reason it took so long….is partly due to Holder’s decision making and lack of people skills…..but mostly due to a KingAir falling out of the sky on Jan. 27, 2001. Changing the university, the program, and all of us forever.

My dude. Eddie was an alcoholic long before he got to OSU. He went to the Betty Ford clinic in 1987. Maybe the plane crash got him off the wagon, but the plane crash was a couple of years before we got to the Final Four again, so he was functioning at a high level if that was truly the trigger. Lots of people could have done something in the intervening years.

Sean didn’t get a fair shake. I think he could’ve been a good HC. The substance abuse derailed that, though, even if I think Holder was all too eager to use that to his advantage.

I think it’s way too early to say Lutz is fixing the program. Underwood could’ve done it, but bounced. Everyone got fired up about Boynton, but he was somehow even worse than Ford.

Eddie admitted that the crash was the trigger for drinking again. Sean was given enough time even before the OD to prove that he was a good head coach. The truth is that he wasn’t that good. I don’t think Lutz has it completely turned around, but having had a full offseason to recruit and develop guys should help them take the next step in getting it fixed. Once Cade was done, the shine started to wear off on Boynton. He was able to cover up for a lot of bad team talent and poor coaching, by Boynton and staff.

I thought Cade was more of an indictment than anything. You went and got the best player in the nation and finished what in the Big XII? Like 5th or something and put in a pathetic tournament performance.

Writing Sean off as a bad coach but buying into Lutz is interesting. Sean’s first year was better than Lutz’s first year and Sean only got two seasons, so Lutz in the WL column is halfway to being worse than Sutton. I get that Sutton was handed a respected team and Lutz came in late and the team has been bad, but the cupboard wasn’t exactly stocked when Sean came in and it’s arguably harder to follow a legend than salvage a failing team (which is why I think our next football coach is going to fail, he has to do both things). You get more runway when the team has been bad for a long time.

This is exactly what they do. They don’t make a decision, and then come to try and tell you how wrong you are. Even if you’ve been right. Then they’ll proceed to say “I’ve never SAID that”. Even though you can see closely based on what they’re saying it’s obvious which way they WANT to go. Just a bunch of cowards with no balls.

Hey champ,

So you want me to say something stupid so I can get called on it later? Why would I say something stupid? We’re probably not going to win again this year, but we could. I think you’re conflating being “ballsy” with being “stupid,” which honestly explains so much. Everytime you get caught saying anything dumb it’s like you’re getting castrated.

It’s called playing it safe or “riding the fence”. Where you can neither be wrong nor right. Then proceed to try and bully those who do. Which technically means you’re not bold and have no balls. You’re nothing more than a troll to those who are. Because you envy them. Just admit it :+1:.

Hey champ,

It’s called “not talking out of your butt”. Yes, you are going to get trolled when you start making stuff up or act like you know something that you don’t. Nobody knows if we’re going 1-11 this season. Upsets happen. Hejny may come back and we have no logical basis to evaluate him. He might be really good, he might be just kinda ok. Predicting six games for which you are missing all kinds of data and ignoring probability is just dumb.

I don’t know man. People claiming that guessing outcomes on something is ballsy and trying to denigrate others who think it is stupid reminds me of bullies that I knew back in 6th grade or maybe junior high. LOL

Yes, you’ll also receive feedback on your statements when the results and facts are contradictory to what you’ve stated in the past. It’s called accountability :+1:.
