Instant Recap: Oklahoma State Falls to Houston 35-32 on the Road

That’s right. It’s been a pattern since the beginning of the season outside of Oregon and Murray State.

Tulsa- 3 points first half, 7 points second half

WV- 13 points first half, 28 points second half

UCF- Even points in both halves

Houston- 3 points first half, 29 points second half.

We look lethargic for most of the first half offensively. It’s like we wait until halftime to adjust and just hope the defense can hold up in the second half. We had 3 points for 4 offensive drives in this game (one being an interception). You’re completely correct. Slow starts offensively have an overall effect on us throughout games. Don’t listen to people who’ve been consistently wrong for 2+ years :+1:.

And if the offense scores 5 TDs - just one more, say, oh I don’t know, at any time in the first half - we win. I’m not saying the defense is good, but the offense sucked too, and I think the O bears the most blame. I truly don’t know why the D is getting all the blame for this one.

Field Goal, Downs, INT, Punt. 7:58 total possession time. Three points. That’s the first half offense. But yeah, it’s all the D’s fault.

Ok, well, they could’ve kicked the FG. If your team has to score six times to win, it’s your defense’s fault. Period.

You know what - you’re right. And now that I think about it, that first half field goal was technically enough to win the game. I can’t believe our defense couldn’t hold that monstrous lead.

I’m not asking them to hold Houston scoreless. I’m asking them to hold them under 5 TDs. Houston had open receivers all game long. I don’t know how you can defend that, but you’re defending it a lot harder than anyone on defense did for 60 minutes.

The issue is when you’re playing the 129th ranked QB pressure rate and 118th ranked pass defense your offense shouldn’t look as bad as it did in the first half.

The defense spent more time out on the field because of offensive ineffectiveness in that first half. Also, take into account they were forced to defend from just 25 yards out after the first half interception.

We win this game if the offense doesn’t look like a soup sandwich in the first half. The middle of the field was open that entire first half. I think we threw maybe three times to that section of the field.
