The fact Oklahoma State returned so much from last year’s 10-3 team bolstered the anticipation for 2024 all offseason. And Week 1 of the new season proved that, indeed, not much has changed in Stillwater. The Cowboys concluded an offseason of hype with a 44-20 win against reigning two-time FCS champion South Dakota State in their season opener on Saturday at Boone Pickens Stadium. Every player to score a touchdown for OSU in the opener was also part of the program last season. That’s a rarity in today’s college football. The familiarity was evident from the get-go. After Logan Ward made a 42-yard field goal for OSU’s first points of 2024, Korie Black ended the Jackrabbits’ next drive with an interception on SDSU’s 47-yard line. Black, a senior, started 13 games last season. Beginning their second possession inside SDSU territory, the Cowboys ended the drive in the end zone thanks to a combo with 13 years of college football experience between the two. Seventh-year quarterback Alan Bowman darted a short pass to sixth-year receiver Brennan Presley, who took it in for a six-yard score to put OSU up 10-0, a lead the Cowboys held through the first quarter. Who else…
Not too bad. Fourth quarter wasn’t great. Some good things, and some things not so good. At least we weren’t sitting on the edge of our seats seeing if we were going to be able to close out an FCS school in the fourth quarter for the first time since 2019.
Today OSU looked kinda average most of the day, but still won by 3.5 touchdowns.
SD St looked like a very good fundamental team. On defense they were gap sound and outside of Owens 58t, didn’t give up the big play. On offense, the Jackrabbits could move the ball but could not convert on 4th down. OSU has secondary issues to clean up with OC Petrino coming to town.
OSU not gaining 400 yards and avg 3.3 a rush vs FCS is underwhelming. At the same time there was no drama in the second half as we pulled away.
The razorbacks will let it fly over our heads next week. 8 passes of over 15 easy I fear .
Hey Champ, weren’t you predicting us to barely win by a single score?
Welcome, to the forum stranger…
I picked 41-24, so wasn’t far off.
Yeah, that’s a solid prediction.
You tend to think that way when you’ve barely been able to beat FCS teams since 2019 . At least I got the total number of points scored by SDSU right on the money. You act like I shouldn’t expect the 17th best team in the country to win by 20+ against an FCS team.
OSU’s average margin versus FCS teams 2019 to date over 30 points per game, so yeah, pretty close games…
Hey champ, just take the L, you were completely wrong.
After watching us barely escape Missouri State and Tulsa in recent years. Then watching us go into a 13-7 fourth quarter battle with Central Arkansas last season, while also losing 33-7 at home to SA. Give me a good reason why I should’ve expected us to beat the back-to-back FCS champs by 20+?
We haven’t exactly been real great in our first openers since 2019. Hey, at least I picked us to win, right?
I don’t mind taking the L. I’d rather be wrong and win by more, than lose at home to an FCS school.
Some one said pinebluff is the worst fcs. Sdsu is the number 1 ranked fcs. So.
I did watch some clips of the Arkansas game pinebluff looked like a peewee team.

Hey champ, there are three things extremely hard: steel, a diamond, and to know one’s self.

And winning a second conference title too apparently. Don’t forget that!!!
Hey champ, you’re much better at predicting the past than the future.
