Where did I say anything about a buyout of Gundy? You really don’t know how to stay on track, do you? I know what Gundy’s buyout is. His buyout would be 24 million. I’m not talking about firing Gundy. I’m talking about making Gundy hire assistant coaches that are actually worth a dam.
The donors are not going to shell out further money to a guy that wants to experiment at a time he should be taking advantage as a top two or three contender for the new conference. Also, at a time the CFP has been extended to 12 teams. Dunn will have one year left on his contract as well as Nardo. If you think money is bad now, then wait until the donors start giving Gundy the middle finger.
You don’t return a team with 20 starters and find yourself dead last in the conference only halfway into the season. Nobody is going to put up with that kind of nonsense. Especially the ones who invest in the program the most. I could see Dunn and Nardo gone. Gundy might have some say, but ultimately when fans stop showing up and the money dries up Weiberg will be forced to tie Gundy’s hands.
If Weiberg is smart, he’ll tell Gundy to at least run Dunn and Dickey out of Stillwater. Maybe give Nardo the last year of his contract and see where it goes from there. If Gundy doesn’t do so. Then you tell Gundy expect to part ways with the program once your contracts ends. No more extensions.
