Unbelievable for a Sr. In high school what he has accomplished. Glad he’s a Poke ![]()
Met Jax and his brother at the tailgate before our first home match. No doubt he is a world class wrestler, but also a genuine Christian young man!
I hope he gray shirts. I know it would be fun to see him as soon as possible in Cowboy orange, but give him all the time he needs. Give him the normal length of folk style training at the college level the fall semester allows him instead of just throwing him in. I know he’s done great things this last summer, I just don’t want to rush him. I totally get if he feels being in our room excels his training faster and more efficiently, and the gray shirt would allow that. Any way he chooses, I can’t wait for him to wrestle as a full Cowboy.
I am a little confused….if he took the redshirt he could wrestle in five matches and still not loss his redshirt status? I believe he might want to look at that option and wrestle the best guys moving forward with Iowa and Iowa State coming to town etc…to see how competitive he will be and if there is a possibility of him winning a National Title 133 or 149. He was planning on wrestling at 141 but with Vega there and the Raney twins coming in to Wrestle at 133 and 149 - what happens to - next year is going to be an exciting year as we have a team that can wrestle with PS.
No. If you are redshirting, you can still wrestle up to five. But that would be your redshirt year. So the following year you would be a redshirt freshman with your full allotment of 4 years. Olympic year could also be taken like Fix did.
I think what you are talking about is the grey shirt. If he chooses to grey shirt, he can practice with the Cowboy RTC and not take college courses (I’m pretty sure that’s what it is, but I could be wrong). If he does that, he still has a redshirt year to give.
