Diving into the numbers and comparing Mestemaker to OU’s Mateer.
Given the offensive weapons, it is the OL that gives the most concerns. If the OL is solid then I would not be shocked with 10 wins. If DM is scrambling then around 7. That being said with expectations for a solid, not 2011 or 2021 defense

P.S. BTW, awesome write up.
My man, 10 wins? That is not reasonable. If we did it, I would be thrilled, but it would be an all time turnaround… it’s not going to happen even in the portal era.
You may be right. That optimistic outlook is counting on hunger and that odd shaped ball bouncing our way more times than not…

On paper, I think we’re a 5-7 team in an average Big XII season, but the conference schedule does break our way this year (unfortunately, we do have to play Oregon) so, I think 6… maybe 7 is possible and that’s with the ball bouncing our way. Anything north of that is a special season imo.
If we do win 10, we’ll be looking for a replacement coach, so I’ll be sure and enjoy it while it lasts. ![]()
That’s fair and believe 7 is arguably where we’ll land. My optimism or upside comes from the noticable difference an above average QB can make on most teams, the shock that came when it was discovered that even Glass had become complacent and that’s being addressed, and the speed (which they say kills) on the offensive side of the ball.
Also, it took most of a year for the oSu D to become comfortable under Ryan’s complicated 46 scheme. It seems Cassity’s scheme is already becoming comfortable to many players (we’ll see). Moreover, LB and DE seem solid. Wait and see on CB, DT, and S.

I’m going to instruct everyone to hold onto this if it does
.
The same guy that gave us 4-20 (0-18) over the last two years isn’t the coach any longer. Just making sure you got the memo
.
Ok. I won’t be mad about it as previously stated. I guess if you want to be like, “ha! Your team exceeded your expectations and had a dream season, loser,” I’ll probably just be enjoying it.
You’re know as the goal post mover and fence rider for a reason
.
Ok, well, no one knows what is going to happen. If you guess and you’re correct, it was still just a guess. So, I’m not fence-sitting, I just don’t know, but double digit wins from where we are now would be virtually unprecedented. I have my rationale for why I think the fanbase is overhyped, but maybe we’ll get lucky or maybe Eric Morris is a HoF coach in the making. I’m not on the fence about the team. I want the team to win every game. I just don’t see it.
