Gundy discusses Gordon’s arrest late last month.

I’m not surprised but a bit disappointed. At least a one game suspension?

We went into the 4th quarter up only 13-7 against Central Arkansas last season. This coaching staff is very Jekyl and Hyde. We can’t figure out what if they actually want to play the best players to win, or if they think they need to do so.

Trey Rucker was not suspended last year for a September DUI. I am not certain if he missed a series, quarter or half, but he did record tackles in every game last year. As well, it was his secon DUI in Stilly, with the first in 2021.

Plus missed a semester for grades with rucker

Just joining the rest of college football coaches. Not running a daycare here plus it’s not amateur football anymore. Good for gundy. Now will he give him the rock as much as he needs it is the question.

What can be expected from someone who has drove drunk 1000s of times.

@GoPokesGo Your thoughts on Gundy saying he’s done the exact thing “a 1,000 times”? You wanted a 1-2 game suspension…….your thoughts?

I admit I’ve been a lifelong Gundy supporter. I think the words didn’t quite come out of his mouth the way he intended yesterday. Unfortunately the words he used made it appear like drinking a few beers and driving is no big deal. That is :100: wrong as it can (and unfortunately has) been a fatal decision for far too many people. Coach Gundy deserves some flack for this, as does Ollie. The drinking and driving comments and corresponding punishment don’t really sound like the disciplined Cowboy Culture that Mike Gundy has prided himself on for years.

Any body going to the a having a drink is dui candidate or who they got a ride with. .1 is not deadly it used to being legal. If you are 2.0then its bad.

The data sharply disagrees with your statement. Even a small amount of alcohol can affect driving ability. In 2022, there were 2,337 people killed in alcohol-related crashes where a driver had a legal BAC of .01 to .07 g/dL. National data shows a person with a BAC of 0.08 is 4 times more likely to crash than a person who has not consumed alcohol. A person with a BAC of 0.15 is 12 times more likely to crash. There is a reason why the BAC is set at 0.08.

I think you are right Gundy didn’t explain his thoughts very well and I can see how some people construed that he determined that going slightly over the limit is not a huge deal. Part of the problem is that folks have honed in on one or two sentences that really sounded bad and have ignored everything else that he has said on the matter. He has made comments about the OG situation maybe half a dozen times since OG was arrested. If you take in everything that he has said over the last few days it paints a different picture of his message overall and it shows that he has put a lot of thought into the situation and the resulting decisions regarding OG. In the end this is what I would want a coach at OSU to do. For that reason I choose not to go so hard on HCMG about a couple of poorly constructed sentences.

I understand your feeling and understand stats.
If you had one wine, text your mother your own your way half a mile away your dead. Beside weather and really drunk people 90% of deaths are caused by people not paying attention.
Not try to down grade any death. If your racing cars at a track you could be effected by 1 beer. Driving to the grocery store no.

The government said if you had covid and died you died of covid even if you got ran over by a bus. If you have 1 beer and drop your cigarette in your lap, you died of alcohol

Mike’s never given me a reason to not trust him. I’m not sure I would’ve done it the same way. I still would’ve liked to see a 1-2 game suspension. Unfortunately I believe him when he says he’s dealt with this situation thousands of times. I imagine with that much experience he has an approach he feels works and he went with it with Ollie.
I never want football to be greater than life, but I think Mike has shown he feels the same, so I trust his decision.
