“If we were doing scheduling a year in advance, probably wouldn’t have scheduled them.”

Why not? It’s not like you’re playing Georgia or Michigan. You’re playing a school that would most likely be bottom tier of the Big 12 if they were a P4 school. Why are we so afraid of a little competition? How do you plan on building a contender without a zeal for trying to beat legitimate competition?

If you’re going to play real competition make it someone who you get a reward for beating. We beat SDSU and everyone goes ok who cares their FCS. We lose and it’s a terrible loss. Arkansas may legitimately get beat by SDSU but if we beat them it’s an SEC win if we lose and recover the rest of the year it’s an SEC loss. Makes no sense to play a great FCS team

You forgot South Alabama, UCF and conference titles

You’re right. Gundy might be correct in what he said. After seeing what South Bama did to us last year I don’t blame him for not wanting to schedule a competent FCS school either.

It’s a bad game because it’s a lose-lose situation. SDSU is a very good team. They could more than compete in the FBS. Teams like that are capable of beating all but the elite FBS teams. But they’re still a FCS team. You beat them, even though they’re better than more than half of FBS schools, and you get nothing. You’re supposed to beat them. You lose and it really derails the season.

I will be in favor of playing cupcakes (lower FBS ones) in the non-conference until the SEC plays 9 conference games. As long as SEC teams play the FBS and FBS cupcakes late in the season (like OU with Maine on Nov. 2 or Alabama with Mercer on Nov. 16, or Georgia with UMASS on Nov. 23, or South Carolina with Wofford on Nov. 23, and on and on), then I see no reason for OSU to schedule these types of gotcha non-conference games.

I’m confused here. According to a Michael and Robert we are an elite team. Remember? Top ten in wins!!! Those teams you listed don’t need to schedule anyone. They already have a history of CFP, Conference Titles, and National Titles. That’s the point I’m getting at. Once you’re established you don’t have to prove anything to anyone. OSU is not an established product like some seem to think it is.

This makes no sense.

That’s correct Spanky , those teams don’t dare play someone that should nevef upset them because it does happen. If they lose they want it to be a somebody, not a nobody
You are also correct we are top ten in wins against Top 25 and total wins last ten years. That’s something you can harp on if you want

I just didn’t want you to leave it out of a post

I guess you can’t read. I said they don’t play them because they DON’T NEED to. When you can actually win conference titles and national titles you’ll get more of the benefit of the doubt. Maybe when we can start doing just one of those, and stop getting blown out at home to G5 teams, then we can receive some of those accolades. Bama and Michigan aren’t the ones telling people on TV they shouldn’t have scheduled an FCS school because they look like they might be too good :man_shrugging:.
