If you feel Morris would be better than either Stein or Kotelnecki, so be it. I disagree, but thats fine. Morris may end up being great at OSU. But…to say hes got a “history of great quarterbacks”…I dont know if I quite agree with that. He did work with Mahomes and Ward. But im not sure how much real influence he had. As a HC, hes been pretty average. Just to be clear, I think it will be a good hire. But there are a ton of people who were all over Gundy for not winning enough. But there are some questions about him too, IMO
Idk dude, he’s 9-1 with a true freshman quarterback who has 3000 yards passing, 23 passing touchdowns, and a 70% completion rating. He also recruited and developed John Mateer and Chandler Morris as well as Ward and Mahomes.
Yeah im not arguing too hard against him. I said hed be a good hire. But the phrase “success has many fathers, while failure is an orphan” comes to mind. Chandler Morris is a good player. John Mateer is a good player. Neither of those guys are what I would call “great quarterbacks”. He didnt have much to do with Mateer. Didnt recruit him. Mateer redshirted the only year they were together. Kingsbury was the guy that recruited Mahomes. Not Morris. Im sure there are a handful of guys who would say they “developed” Mahomes. Cam Ward is his guy. The rest…im not so sure about. Hey im not saying hes a bad hire. But you may need to look at his resume in totality. Not just the success stories.
I’m.kind of in favor of Morris , like him better than Goulash is what I call him. .. if developing qbs are his forte I’m for him One thing Lincoln was great at was bringing I top qbs that kept it moving. QBs are the most important piece of the puzzle. I read something that Morris current qb already has a slew of 3 million offers for next year
Well it happened and now the question has to be asked. Do you think Kentucky is a better job than Oklahoma State?
No, Kentucky is not a better job. Its similar, but I think OSU is a better one. I assume the point youre trying to make is by Stein being a candidate for/getting that job and not the OSU one. Tennesse is/was a better job than OSU. But Mike Gundy chose OSU. Will Stein is a Kentucky guy. His family are Kentucky people. His in-laws are Kentucky people. Interesting tie here, my wife and his wife both sit on the board of a non-profit halfway house. The better job overall isnt always the better job for a particular guy. Kentucky couldnt get Mike Gundy or Zac Robinson. OSU cant get Will Stein. Not all situations are created equal
