Nolan Schubart, Ethan Holliday Represent Cowboys in First Night of MLB Draft

One of Oklahoma State’s all-time great sluggers went in the third round of the MLB Draft on Sunday night. The Cleveland Guardians drafted OSU junior Nolan Schubart with the 101st overall pick. After only three seasons, Schubart ranks fourth all-time with 59 home runs and happens to hit one every 10 at-bats. The junior also ranks ninth with a career slugging percentage of .705 and 10th with 199 RBIs. Schubart started every game last season and earned a spot on the All-Big 12 honorable mention team after recording 57 RBIs and 19 home runs while hitting .300. Schubart wasn’t even the first player drafted with OSU ties. That honor went to Stillwater’s own Ethan Holliday. Although Holliday, nephew of head coach Josh Holliday, signed with OSU during his senior season, no one expected Ethan to actually play college ball. That expectation became a reality when the Colorado Rockies drafted him fourth overall. “The Rockies are an incredible organization,” Holliday said during an interview with ESPN. “Our family is very familiar (with the Rockies).
