Comparing Bowman’s start to other OSU seasons.
As well, more of Bowman’s passing stats are improved. This year he is completing 67% of his passes. Last year through 3 games, he was at 57% and finished with 60%. Last year he threw just 15 Td passes. This year, he has 8 in 3 games, while last year he didn’t record his 8th Td until his 8th game! Last year his Passing Efficiency was 122.8 with a high of 153 vs Kansas. This year he is averaging 159.49 (for context Weeden was 157.6 in his career and Rudolph was 159.7).
Don’t see any of the trolls on this thread trashing HCMG about recruiting a 3rd string QB to play at OSU. I wonder why?
It not the yards im amazed about. I already siad he would get 4000.he had 3400 in basically 12 games.
He said he worked on what everyone knew he was doing wrong. First thing is to recognize the problem.
I wasnt upset about the pics at 14. It was the 15 td. He will still have double digits pics but the 30 tds will be better.
Red zone and getting two 2points is good.
Drops and flags are more a problem then alan
Also don’t want to forget the fact that he has been protected well. The offensive line has struggled in a major way to run block, but have protected the QB very well which has given him time to get comfortable and find the plethora of good receivers. So the offensive line deserves credit where it is due along with the criticism.
You cant block 7 or 8 guys with 5 or 6 guys
It’s all going to come down to him staying comfortable. He got rattled in the Arkansas game and reverted to bad habits (missing the 4th down conversion and then getting pinned in our own five may have made him feel pressure?). Nervous in the pocket, back peddling, inaccurate throws. Against Tulsa and South Dakota State, he looked at ease.
Utah is going to be more like Arkansas. He’s got to hang tough and step into his throws, find the open man. Gundy mentioned the coaches have to have “two plans” each week. I think Utah might see the passing game as the bigger problem. If so, this will be Ollie’s week, but the gameplan needs to pivot as they adjust either way.
Agreed, only 3 P4 teams have not allowed a sack yet: Georgia Tech, Rutgers (2 games) & OSU.
