Oklahoma State Releases 2022 Schedule

No one wants to go 7-6, but consider this
Bud Wilkinson went 3-6-1 in 1960, his 14th season with Ou after winning NCs in 1956-57
Switzer went 7-4-1 in 1981 after an 83-9–2 start.
Penn st went 6-5 in 1984 after winning NC in 1982. Also went 5-6 in 1988 after NC in 1986
Brian Kelly went 4-8 in 2016.
Don’t the records of Texas, Florida, Florida St, USC, LSU, Miami, Nebraska this year show how difficult it is to stay on top? You constantly ask what school pays their coach as much as OSU and has as little to show. Iowa! Ferentz is 178-108. Gundy is 148–68. Gundy would have to go 30-40 to match Ferentz record. Yes, a losing record to catch him. Ferentz had had records of
7-6, 2011
4-8, 2012
7-6, 2014
After his 10th season.
Sure coaches like Saban, Dabo etc don’t go 7-6, but is that really the standard you are going to hold Gundy to? At some point Gundy will not be coaching at OSU and we will hire coaches who have no true loyalty and they will leave for greener pastures like Miles and Jimmy Johnson. Just like Aranda is going to leave Baylor and Campbell is going to leave Iowa St at some point.

That was awesome. But Joey will deflect
And talk about perdicted place like how ou was predicted to win a natty and play Campbell in the title game

They say Rattler may be transferring to Arizona State. That could make things interesting.

Not if you turn it into what you want it to become.

Besides this season OU has been consistent in winning conference titles and making the CFP. So I don’t know what in the hell you’re talking about.

When I talk about consistency I’m not talking about every single year for the next 10 years. I’m talking about 4 out of every 5 years or so. If you consistently underachieve 7 out of 10 seasons on where people think you should be that’s not considered consistency Robert.

We massively overachieved this year, so you ought to be over the moon.

Oh I’m glad we did!!! Just pointing out that success like this year is very uncommon.

Because you think Oklahoma St is the ‘next’ Clemson?

Not the next Clemson. Joey thinks miles built us to where we should have been Clemson.

Miles at the very least got us to where we would get to bowl games.

We could be depending on how invested we are in it.

You heard Gundy say how Weiberg and Shrum are all in. I think Holder and Hargis were the problem.

Now that new schedule looks exciting. I went to CMU for grad school so that is great to see them play the Cowboys again. This time around they are pretty mediocre even with their coach that got booted out of Florida.
Also great to see ASU on the schedule as I used to live in Phoenix and was a Sun Devil fan during that period in the 1980’s. One of their football greats died the other day, Curly Culp. People might forget how great of a heavyweight wrestler he also was for ASU. Arkansas Pine Bluff, the only cupcake for non-conference play.

Good. Can’t think of anyone who can’t wait to go watch girls softball or wrestling.

Hi.

I guarantee wrestling has sold out Gallagher Iba more than basketball in the last 5-6 years. Don’t badmouth wrestling if you’ve never seen it standing room only in that arena

Joey can appreciate what gundy has done ,so of course he can’t see the value of 2 more top ten programs.

I agree completely. …with this rationale. Gundy is the best coach FOR oSu. I do want to keep him and while critical at times, have never wanted him gone, unless he was playing other schools interest as leverage. In that case, ■■■■ the torpedoes and charge on… lol

I do often lament and wish that Gundy would NOT get so conservative at times and try to sit on the clock with too much time left. I was a bit irate in this bedlam game that we were content to run three running plays and punt with SIX MINUTES left in the game. It was literally by a shoestring that we were able to hold on. The offense’s goal is to score! PERIOD. Never should it be to consume clock until late in the fourth quarter and how late is dependent on how big is the lead. Gundy has been known to play the clock game to start the 3rd quarter!! (remember Texas collapses??) I hate that…

I want our team to be willing to die on its feet, rather than try to survive on our knees with a lead.

All that said, when Gundy has an OC that will literally tell him to get off the mic, ala Holgy and Monken, we are at our best offensively. However, every coach is flawed as are we all… and we can live with Gundy’s flaws better than we probably can with the next guy’s. The continuity he provides, not a stepping stone job as it once was and would be again if he leaves, aides in everything from recruiting to ticket sales.

Go BOLDY Pokes!!!

I don’t know what this means.

I love this. Remember that now OU and Notre Dame are stepping stones.
