Once unknown, Hawkins is now a preseason All-American.

Well I look at that this way: Had he been successfully recruited to OSU, he might have hit the portal and would be somewhere else now :man_shrugging:

Well, UNT is the only D1 school that did, so good on them.

There are guys who are zero stars in the NFL, but oSu did have someone look at Hawkins, cause I read they were thinking defense. :sob:

Yeah, I think Cam Ward was a 0 star. I think Josh Allen was, he had no offers and had to go to JUCO and mass mail out his highlight reel. He barely caught Wyoming’s attention and that was only after Wyoming lost their #1 target.

That’s correct. There are others also. What’s wild is sometimes it’s a CB, one of the hardest positions to play. Mestemaker was a zero star as far as a QB, not sure if he had a star as a safety also. Interesting read, and I don’t doubt it, that Coach Morris thinks that helped Mestemaker, i.e. playing safety, with making very good reads and quick decisions.
