Oklahoma State Starting Point Guard Arturo Dean Enters the Transfer Portal

Dean enters the portal with one year of eligibility remaining.

I’m honestly a bit surprised by this. He was sorely lacking offensively but I feel he could have been a good defensive spark plug off the bench. Good luck to him.

If we’re not going to have salary caps in all of this chaos, then please bring back sitting out 1-year if you transfer (with no exceptions).

In this era of lawsuits against the NCAA I think making transfers sit out a year would be considered a violation of their right to apply their athletic talents. If a cap is placed on payments, donors will pay the players under the table like they always have. It’s just a runaway train that is going to derail. Until then, it’s ruining college sports. At least MLB got a handle on free agency by enforcing 5 year contracts. College will have to create some kind of 2 year contract. Gundy suggested the idea of contracts.
The loss of Dean is a boon to our offense. He made some unwise passes on offense that turned the ball over and his scoring was single digit. So let’s go grab another big man. It would be nice if Vukovic would also depart because he looks like a long term project rather than ready to contribute. The roster as is seems encouraging. They can score and Lutz will teach them defense.

Couldn’t agree more on athletes signing playing contracts. It would go a long way in solving a lot of problems in this current NIL/Portal ear.

Two guys left from last season…Baylor lost every player!!! College sports is out of control!

I wish. Unless a kid is going up or down a level of competition they should have to sit. It’s getting ridiculous.

I think Dean knows his minutes will be cut in half at least. Good defensive player, very limited in scoring. We havd guards coming in that can score

College sports is on its way out. Clock is ticking.

When I played (not sure nowadays) you had to sign paperwork (contract) stating the ncaa rules. If you don’t want to sit out a year, you have every right to try and go pro or overseas.

1.) Contracts have buyouts. That’s just going to favor larger schools with larger donor pools.
2.) Sitting out a year is essentially a non-compete clause which are legally dubious.

The paid to play, but not really paid to play model is a legal disaster.
