Following their season-opening loss to Tulsa and going into a tough test in Oregon, the Cowboys released the second edition of their 2026 depth chart on Tuesday. Oklahoma State plays the Ducks at 11 a.m. Saturday in what will be the first home game of the Eric Morris Era. This is a little discouraging. It went so well last week, let’s try it again? Does that tell us there are no better options? Especially on the OL. We shall see.
Nobody’s getting bigger or stronger or faster. I mean, there can be guys with better technique and footwork or whatever, but when you’re getting blown off the line by Tulsa, that’s just where you are from a physicality standpoint. You think we have some secret colossus we were saving for Oregon? The only way it’s getting better is if we pull tight ends in for extra help or start using a fullback or something. Unfortunately, if we pull tight ends to block, which WR is out there beating his man with one less target in the field of play to account for? I didn’t see anyone like that.
There were two ways to interpret the Portland State kid, Torgeson, getting a lot of praise and buzz in the offseason.
1.) Eric Morris is just a pro at finding diamonds in the rough. He has a superior eye for talent that other people can’t see.
2.) Our line play is so weak that a Portland State guy is on par with them.
It looks like it was #2.
