Oklahoma State's Past Two Basketball Coaches Are in the Final Four

Looking at some similarities in their current Final Four teams and their OSU teams.

Underwood? Don’t care. We might have dropped the ball in how we negotiated, but that eel was negotiating with U of I behind our backs while we were still playing in the NCAA tourney, and I’m convinced it was a distraction to him and our team and led to our second round loss. They can have him. He’d pull a Benedict Arnold on them just as quickly if he had the chance to go to a better program. I can still remember his bull s*** presser at GIA with him declaring all manner of accolades for the OSU program while his wife sat behind him making it look painfully obvious that she’d rather be just about be anywhere else.

Boynton is a curious case, though. I thought he was a genuine guy with a lot of potential, which he clearly is at Michigan. Maybe just doesn’t have the wherewithal to run a program himself? Or maybe not yet? Because the guy could recruit. Not sure. But he had great character as a mentor and leader.

Which is what Lutz has too. Hoping he continues to build and will show that he can build a consistent tourney team.

Some coaches just don’t have trait to be a head coach. I think that was Boynton. Great at coaching techniques and skills, but not the overall game like a head coach can. And, that’s perfectly fine. Not every coach can be a head coach, although that’s the ultimate desire. Maybe Boynton will learn a few more things and develop into a head coach. It seems he’s in a good spot there at Michingan, though.
