Things got out of hand quickly.

We strike out 12 times in 5 and 1/3 an inning for the goon pitcher 12 of the 16 batters strike out !!! !!! That is inexcusable , pitiful
The decline of OSU baseball has been hard to watch. I guess Gary Ward spoiled me. I don’t get why we didn’t capitalize on a new baseball facility. OSU should be able to recruit and field a team that competes on a national level most years.
Outscored 22-3 in the first two games. Not acceptable.
Facilities in the NIL era are the most overrated thing in the game. I am/have been a defender of Holliday. But I was in the building on Sat and Sun. They have one stud in Ritchie. The rest are just guys. Arms are good. Not great. Theyll win enough in Conf to keep their heads above water, but man its possibly time to really start looking at replacing Josh

I’ve been ready for a change for 2-3 years and then they have a surge only to be disappointed. We haven’t had anything since Haney and Buffet
I just think people in Stillwater are going to have to understand that the landscape of college baseball has drastically changed. It used to be that 15-20 teams or so really cared about baseball. Its not that way anymore. And people that assume the facility should translate in to more W’s, are wrong. To win in college baseball you have to play the NIL game (SEC big boys) or you have to have a very, very good staff that is willing to really, really recruit and/or develop. People on this site arent going to want to hear this, but OU & Texas Tech are perfect examples. OU has a pitching guru that loves to recruit. They also have an offensive/defensive wizard in Willits who, while he doesnt like recruiting, hes got two sons that happen to be playing age and he sees guys while out following his boys. Tech on the other hand has a staff that does not want to go out and beat the bushes on the recruiting trail. Tedlock is as good a coach as youll find, but hes close to 60. Been at Tech for close to 15yrs. They arent getting much NIL stuff in the baseball world. OSU is similar. You dont have to have NIL in baseball to win. But you have to be able to offset that by busting your butt. Josh isnt doing that. I think he survives this year, but next year hes coaching for his job.
Hasn’t been that long Costal Carolina won a ship I’m sure with a bunch of rag tag kids that developed over a couple of years. We usually get a good jr college kid every year and maybe a stud high school kid but they last a year. Hitting is my gripe with Josh , I don’t know the numbers on money behind us but we should be better. O’brate should have far more attending than we do. Kenny deserves a new stadium before Josh. You can rest assured Josh isn’t beating the bushes for kids. He lets his assistants to most. Not sure about the new pitching coach , he made lots of progress everywhere he’s been, two of our better pitchers out for the year , seems we always have arms hurt
Coastal Carolina has never won the Nat Title. In my opinion, the OSU fan base thought that Obrate would automatically bring more W’s. They also hold on to what Ward did too much. That combination has led to unrealistic expectations. Take out the stadium and I want someone to explain to me what OSU has to offer that their competitors do not?
Okay I missed the Costal Carolina championship? Who was the small school 4-5 years ago that won it all ? What does any school have to offer now besides money Ketchup? If they don’t like playing in a brand new ball park. We have tradition. Lots of schools don’t havd that We play a tough schedule. So what else is the secret besides money ( and better coaches )
Hey, youre right. Coastal did win it back in 16’. I was wrong. For some reason I remembered them losing to Arizona. Either way, I was wrong.
Dont make the assumption that the teams that win in a sport are doing so because of NIL. Conversely, dont make the asumption that a team that is having a hard time winning is due to not diving deep enough in to the NIL waters. The 4 programs that I have the most connection currently with are OU, OSU, Nebraska and Arkansas. The deepest NIL pockets of those 4 are Arkansas, Neb, OSU, OU. In that order. Now, to be fair, the gap between OSU and OU is very small. The gap between Neb and OSU isnt that large either. Arkansas is definitley the biggest payer of all 4. But of the 4, OU has EASILY the worst facilities. They also pay the least of the 4. So why are they cuurently winning more than Nebraska or OSU? They have a sales pitch to recruits that preaches “Development over dollars”. They have a certain type of player that they can recruit and they go after those guys. Their HC LOVES recruiting. His son is the HC at a very good JUCO, so thats an in they have. People dont want to hear this, but playing in the SEC is a massive draw. You get to play against the best players, in the best venues, against the best crowds. That stuff matters. Nebraska baseball is suffering the same fate as the football program in that it lost its ability to recruit in Texas (and the Kansas JUCO’s). Josh has gotten lazy on the recruiting trail. Thats a fact. As far as tradition, that matters less in baseball recruiting than any other sport. Do you think kids nowadays know who Pete Incaviglia was? Or Robin Ventura? Thats in no way a slight to those guys becuase I grew up on OSU baseball. But im 46yrs old
I think I said that Josh has become lazy recruiting !!! He’s become complacent, too cozy for me. You’re correct if you have a guy that’s plugged to jr college and loves recruiting gives you a big edge on kids. Josh should have gone out and got a couple of 6-7 inning guys. Whaf you said about recruiting 4-5! Guys is always good but a team that. Builds chemistry and play well together is the most part. You need 2 studs for a weekend , good defense will keep you in any game I doubt any kid looking at OSU knows much about Inky and Ventura other than they went brb to school here. Recruiting is far different than it was 25 years ago. There used to be no NIL some kids got only partial scholarships. Don’t know if that has changed. You said it , a lot more schools want a piece of the pie now
OSU baseball IMO, is doing slightly below what the expectation should be. Hes made the postseason every year. Hes gotten upset in a few spots where they had the better team. But I think people that want him gone are fine. I would agree that going to Omaha once every 10 years isnt good enough, so I get it. But the expectation doesnt need to be anywhere close to what the Ward era did
Ketchup he’s not going to match Ward , no one else will either going 7 straight trips. Too many good teams out there that want to beat your brains in Lot more good players too. But I don’t like how Josh manages the team. Has his book on percentages and results. Doesn’t go by how the flow is going. Also doesn’t know when to pull a guy on the mound
